In the Atlanta Braves<\/a>‘ latest roster moves, they have sent pitchers Bryce Elder<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0 Ray Kerr<\/a><\/strong> to Triple-A Gwinnett, while Darius Vines<\/strong><\/a> comes back up to the majors.<\/p>\n

Bryce Elder<\/h4>\n

After a bad start against the San Diego Padres<\/a> on Sunday, Elder moves back down to Triple-A. In his start this past Sunday, Elder’s command did not work. In three innings, Elder had three strikeouts, on nine hits, three walks, and six earned runs. The Padres knocked off the Braves, 9\u20131, and took three out of four games. In 2023, Elder’s first half led to an All-Star selection, but after the All-Star break, he struggled. However, in 2024, Elder is more prevalent than the All-Star seen a year ago. In five starts in 2024, Elder has posted a 1\u20132 record, 6.46 ERA, 5.39 FIP, and 1.944 WHIP in 23 2\/3 innings.<\/p>\n

Ray Kerr<\/h4>\n

The Braves optioned relief pitcher Ray Kerr to Triple-A Gwinnett following the Padres series. Kerr’s numbers as a relief pitcher haven’t disappointed the Braves. In four games and nine innings, Kerr put up a 2.89 ERA, 3.79 FIP and 0.96r WHIP. Many fans have speculated with the decision to option Kerr. However, with the Braves struggling with starting pitching, some may see Kerr start some games as the fifth option. Reynaldo L\u00f3pez<\/strong><\/a> turned back to a starter with the Braves, and has pitched well for the NL East favorites. Kerr’s option to Gwinnett could see the 29-year-old start for the Stripers.<\/p>\n

Darius Vines<\/h4>\n

After two players sent down, the Braves called up 26-year-old Darius Vines. Vines has started two games for the Braves this season. Vines is currently posting an 0\u20131 record, with a 4.66 ERA, 5.53 FIP and 1.448 WHIP in the majors. While with the Stripers, Vines is putting up similar numbers, with a 4.58 ERA. In his last start, Vines pitched 4 2\/3 innings, but gave up eight hits and six earned runs. The Braves hopes to get a flip in production from Vines, or hopes to buy some time for others to be ready for their call-up to the majors.<\/p>\n
