Michael Brantley and His Stint with the Astros<\/h3>\n
Brantley, 35, signed with the Astros in 2019 after spending ten seasons with the then-Cleveland Indians. In his first season in Houston, he helped the Astros to the World Series, where they lost to the Washington Nationals in seven games. Two seasons later, he helped them back to the Series, where they lost to the Atlanta Braves<\/a>. Overall with the Astros, he has slashed .306\/.368\/.464 (446-for-1457) with 98 doubles, six triples, 40 home runs, 185 RBI, 132 walks, 177 strikeouts, a .356 wOBA, 53.7 wRAA, and 208 runs scored. He made the All-Star teams in 2019 and 2021.<\/p>\n
Defensively, he has made 252 appearances in left field since joining the Astros. He has also made 117 appearances as the designated hitter and 17 in right field. As a left fielder, he has been a decent defender, with four Total Zone Runs Above Average (Rtot on Baseball Reference) and 19 Defensive Runs Saved (Rdrs).<\/p>\n
Brantley only played 64 games in 2022. His season ended in August, when he had shoulder surgery. The surgery was to repair a labrum tear he suffered in June 26, when he played his last game of the season.<\/p>\n
