Infielder\/Utilityman Jake Lamb signs a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim<\/a>. The deal includes an invite to spring training. Lamb was initially drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> out of the University of Washington. The former Huskie made his debut for the Diamondbacks in 2014. He had an All-Star season in 2017 for the Diamondbacks in which he slashed .248\/.357\/.487 with 30 home runs. Injuries have plagued Lamb since 2018 as he has played no more than 78 games in a season. He suffered a Grade 2 strain of his left quadriceps muscle in 2018 and has reinjured the shoulder multiple times since.\u00a0 He has bounced around with the A’s, White Sox, Blue Jays, Braves, Dodgers, and his hometown Mariners.\u00a0 For his career, Lamb has a slash line of .236\/.237\/.429 with 94 home runs for a WAR of 7.2<\/p>\n

Angels Add Depth<\/h2>\n

The Angels have been stocking up on corner infielders this offseason as they struggled with injuries in 2021. Lamb gives them a left-handed bat with some power that can play all over the diamond. He tends to struggle against Left-handed pitchers batting .170 in his career. Lamb signs hoping he can latch on and fill a platoon with Anthony Rendon for Manager Phil Nevin<\/a>. The Angels have been active this offseason with additions Hunter Renfroe, Brandon Drury, and Gio Urshela joining Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani in Anaheim.<\/p>\n
