The Texas Rangers<\/a> announced on Tuesday that the club has finalized its 2025 major league coaching staff under manager Bruce Bochy<\/a><\/strong>. There are seven returnees to the Rangers’ bench for next season. They are\u00a0pitching coach Mike Maddux<\/a><\/strong>, offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker, first base coach Corey Ragsdale, third base coach Tony Beasley<\/strong><\/a>, catching coach Bobby Wilson<\/a><\/strong>, assistant hitting coach Seth Conner, and quality control coach Brett Hayes<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Several Newcomers<\/h4>\n

The Rangers’ 2025 coaching staff will feature some new faces in the dugout. They include bench coach Luis Urueta, assistant pitching coach Dave Bush<\/a><\/strong>, and bullpen coach Jordan Tiegs.\u00a0 The trio joins seven staff returnees as well as assistant hitting coach Justin Viele. He was formally added to the staff on November 4.<\/p>\n

Urueta, 43, served as Bench Coach in 2023-24 under former Miami Marlins<\/a> manager Skip Schumaker<\/strong><\/a>, who was hired by the Rangers on November 13 as Senior Advisor, Baseball Operations.\u00a0 Urueta had previous coaching stints in the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> organization in 2022, 2020-21, and 2018-19.\u00a0 Prior to those stints, he filled various roles within Arizona\u2019s minor league system from 2007-17. He served as a Dominican Summer League Manager from 2007, 2014. He was also a\u00a0 Short Season Field Coordinator from 2008-12, 2016, Triple-A Coach in 2015, and Field Coordinator in 2017.\u00a0 Urueta also managed Team Colombia during the 2017 World Baseball Classic.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Dave Bush<\/h4>\n

Bush, 45, was hired by the Rangers in January and spent the past season as Director, Pitching Strategy. This was a role that included both on-field and front office duties.\u00a0 He was in the dugout as interim pitching coach for a limited number of games when pitching coach Mike Maddux was away from the club in 2024.<\/p>\n

Bush served as pitching coach for the Boston Red Sox<\/a> from 2020-23, this after previous stints for that club as a pitching development analyst from 2016-18 and minor league pitching coordinator in 2019.\u00a0 The right-hander had 211 games\/187 starts over nine seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>, Milwaukee Brewers<\/a>, and the Rangers.\u00a0 As a player, Bush worked with Maddux in both Milwaukee (2006-08) and Texas (2011).<\/span><\/p>\n

Jordan Tiegs<\/h4>\n

The 37-year-old Tiegs will be in his first season on a major league staff in 2025, although he has spent time with the big league club at various points in previous years.\u00a0 He will be in his sixth full season with the Rangers, having served from 2022-24 as the organization\u2019s pitching coordinator.<\/p>\n

Since joining the player development department in 2019, he served as pitching coach for the Arizona League Rangers in 2019 and High-A Hickory in 2021. Tiegs also worked with the Fall Developmental League in 2020.\u00a0 He has spent time as pitching coach at the University of Indianapolis from 2012-14 and Indiana State from 2015-19.\u00a0 He pitched professionally in the independent Frontier League in 2009-10 after graduating from the University of Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Justin Viele<\/h4>\n

The 34-year-old Viele has spent the last five seasons as a hitting coach for the San Francisco Giants<\/a>. While working with current Rangers coach Donnie Ecker in 2021, Viele helped lead the Giants offense to a franchise-record 241 home runs, the second-highest total in the majors that season (262-Toronto).<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the Giants, Viele spent three years as a hitting coach in the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> organization in 2019 at Low-A Great Lakes, 2018 at High-A Rancho Cucamonga, and 2017 at Rookie-level Ogden.<\/p>\n
