The 2025 Texas Rangers<\/a> are ready to put the 2024 campaign behind them after finishing 10.5 games out of first in the AL West with a record of 78\u201384. Various injuries and inspired play severely plagued them last year. Heading into 2025, just about everyone on the roster is healthy and ready for Opening Day. Under the watchful eye of manager Bruce Bochy<\/a><\/strong>, the Rangers are poised to have a great season. Here is a Rangers season preview to get everyone up to date.<\/p>\n

Various Injuries<\/h4>\n

One of the most notable injuries that impacted the Rangers was the wrist issues of third baseman Josh Jung<\/a>, <\/strong>who appeared in 46 games last season and went 47-for-178 at the plate. He underwent a pair of wrist surgeries in 2024, and he enters the 2025 campaign with no limitations. Jung was also delayed last spring with a calf strain, and also tore his labrum in camp in 2022. It is indeed a sight for sore eyes for Rangers now that he appears to be healthy.<\/p>\n

Another impact player who spent significant time on the shelf in 2024 was shortstop Corey Seager<\/a><\/strong>. Despite hitting 30 homers and driving in 74, he dealt with a sports hernia the entire year. He was finally shut down for good on September 12 and underwent surgery for the injury. Much like Jung, Seager appears to be healthy and ready to start the season. The Rangers are also looking forward to the return of righty Jacob deGrom<\/a><\/strong>, who spent all of last year recovering from Tommy John surgery.<\/p>\n

Catchers<\/h4>\n

Rangers mainstay Jonah Heim<\/a><\/strong> struggled at the plate in 2024. He hit .220 (101-for-459) with 13 home runs and 59 RBI. He looks to bounce back from those numbers in 2025.<\/p>\n

Sharing the catching duties alongside Heim is Kyle Higashioka<\/a><\/strong>, whom the Rangers signed at the Winter Meetings in Dallas in December. His .220 batting average in 2024 was identical to Heim’s. He belted 17 homers and had 45 RBI in 84 games with the San Diego Padres<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Infielders<\/h4>\n

With the return of Seager and Jung, the Rangers\u2019 infield looks to be very crowded. When they traded Nathaniel Lowe<\/a><\/strong> to the Washington Nationals<\/a> in December, it freed up room at first base. To remedy this, the Rangers made a trade<\/a> with the Miami Marlins<\/a> for Jake Burger<\/a><\/strong>, who hit .226 with 29 dingers and 76 RBI.<\/p>\n

Marcus Semien<\/a><\/strong> will take his usual spot at second base for the Rangers this season. He’s looking to improve on his .237 batting average from 2024. He had 23 home runs to go along with his 74 RBI.<\/p>\n

Josh Smith<\/a><\/strong> and Ezequiel Duran<\/a><\/strong> will be sharing time at third base for the Rangers this season. Smith hit .258 with 13 long balls and 62 RBI. Duran had a .246 batting average with three home runs and 20 RBI.<\/p>\n

Outfielders<\/h4>\n

The Rangers have one of the strongest outfields in the majors. First, you have the elder statesman of the group in\u00a0Adolis Garcia<\/a><\/strong> in right field. In 580 at-bats in 2024, Garcia struggled with a .224 batting average. He had 25 homers and 85 RBI.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Rangers\u2019 outfield will not feature Evan Carter<\/a><\/strong>. In 15 Cactus League games, he hit .154 (6-for-39) with a .419 OPS. Carter will begin the season at Triple-A Round Rock to fix his swing. In 144 plate appearances last year, Carter hit five home runs with 15 RBI. As previously mentioned, a sore back limited his playing time.<\/p>\n

Wyatt Langford<\/a><\/strong> and Leody Taveras<\/a><\/strong> are also at the Rangers’ disposal in the outfield. Langford hit .253 with 16 homers and 74 RBI, while Taveras hit .229 with 12 dingers and 44 RBI.<\/p>\n

Newcomer Joc Pederson<\/a><\/strong> looks to get most of his reps as the DH. He spent the 2024 campaign with the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a>, where he had a .275 clip with 23 home runs and 64 driven in.<\/p>\n

Starting Rotation<\/h4>\n

Right-hander\u00a0Nathan Eovaldi<\/a><\/strong> will lead the Rangers\u2019 starting rotation, and will get the ball on Opening Day against the Boston Red Sox<\/a>. He finished with a record of 12\u20138 last year while posting an ERA of 3.80. Eovaldi was relied on heavily last year, as he pitched 144 innings in 25 starts. He struck out 132 batters and walked 47. The rest of the rotation will consist of Tyler Mahle<\/a><\/strong>, Cody Bradford<\/a><\/strong>, Jack Leiter<\/a><\/strong>, and Kumar Rocker<\/a><\/strong>. Right-hander Jon Gray<\/strong><\/a> will begin the season on the Injured List with a fractured wrist.<\/p>\n

Relievers<\/h4>\n

The Rangers addressed their bullpen issues in the offseason. Former closer Jose Leclerc<\/a><\/strong> elected to sign with the Athletics<\/a> as a free agent, and there will be some new faces charging out of the gate in right-center at Globe Life Field this year. They signed Shawn Armstrong<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0Luke Jackson<\/a><\/strong>. The Rangers also acquired lefty Robert Garcia<\/a><\/strong> in the Lowe trade.<\/p>\n

Gerson Garabito<\/a><\/strong> will make the team, and according to Bochy, will be used in a long relief role. The Rangers will also feature Marc Church<\/a><\/strong>, Chris Martin<\/a><\/strong>, Hoby Milner<\/a><\/strong>, and Jacob Webb<\/a><\/strong> in their bullpen. They don’t have a set closer, so it will most likely be a committee scenario for the time being.<\/p>\n

Outlook<\/h4>\n

Look for the Texas Rangers to have a great season. At the very least, they will have a winning season under manager Bruce Bochy. They have a very good chance of clinching another playoff spot. Winning a World Series title is very hard to do, no matter what team you\u2019re on. That isn\u2019t to say that they\u2019re not going to try though. The 2025 Texas Rangers are here to win.<\/p>\n
