Athletics Report: Osvaldo Bido Dominates in His Final Spring Tune-up<\/h2>\n

MESA, Ariz. (Mar 23) \u2014 Osvaldo Bido<\/a><\/strong> has had some good and not-so-good starts this spring. Entering his final 2025 Cactus League start Sunday, a strong outing would have been a nice stepping stone to the season. Dominating the Chicago Cubs<\/a> to the tune of zero runs across four innings certainly qualified. Bido struck out three while retiring 12 of the 14 batters he faced, his only blemishes being a single to center by Justin Turner<\/a><\/strong> and an infield single to third by Miguel Amaya<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cIt was great,\u201d Athletics<\/a> manager Mark Kotsay<\/a><\/strong> said of Bido\u2019s outing. \u201cHe had good life on the fastball. We were looking for three innings, and he gave us four. He\u2019s as ready as he can get to go to Seattle and start.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody\u2019s Ready\u201d<\/h3>\n

Other highlights from the game included an opposite-field homer from Brent Rooker<\/a><\/strong>, a blast to left by Max Schuemann<\/a><\/strong>, and a line-drive double to the left-field corner by Lawrence Butler<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cThe guys are ready,\u201d Kotsay said. \u201cEverybody\u2019s ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

Butler also singled, ending the day 2-for-3. At that point, that meant he had hit safely in all but three Cactus League games he had played in this season (16 of 19).<\/p>\n

Final Stop<\/h3>\n

The Athletics concluded their 2025 Cactus League campaign on the road Monday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox<\/a>, bowing to the Pale Hose, 8\u20135. All the regulars had one at-bat before giving way to the Athletics\u2019 minor-leaguers. Butler struck out in his only plate appearance, ending the Cactus League campaign having hit safely in 16 of the 20 games in which he played.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/h3>\n

The Athletics will open the 2025 regular season Thursday on the road against the Seattle Mariners<\/a>. Off-season acquisition Luis Severino<\/a><\/strong> will take the hill for the Athletics against Logan Gilbert<\/a><\/strong> in a battle of right-handers. First pitch will be at 7:10 pm Pacific.<\/p>\n
