ARLINGTON, Texas (May 14) \u2014 The Texas Rangers<\/a> beat the Colorado Rockies<\/a>, 8\u20133, on Wednesday night, completing a nice three-game sweep. With their win in the series finale, they run their winning streak to five. The Rangers had plenty of offense highlighted by homers by Wyatt Langford<\/a><\/strong> and Adolis Garcia<\/a><\/strong>. With this series in the books, the Rangers will set their sites on the Houston Astros<\/a>, as they come to Arlington for a four-game set. The opener of that series will be on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm Central at Globe Life Field. Right-hander Hunter Brown<\/a><\/strong> (6\u20131, 1.48 ERA) will take the mound for the Astros, and the Rangers will counter with righty Jacob deGrom<\/a><\/strong> (3\u20131, 2.72 ERA).<\/p>\n As for the Rockies, they will embark of the last leg of their road trip with a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a>. The opener will be on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6:40 Arizona Time at Chase Field. The Rockies have yet to announce their starting pitcher, while righty Corbin Burnes<\/strong><\/a> (2\u20131, 2.95 ERA) will make his eighth start for the Diamondbacks.<\/p>\n The Rangers opened the scoring right away in the top of the first off Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela<\/a><\/strong>. A leadoff single to center brought Langford to the plate. On the first pitch he saw, Langford deposited a two-run blast to right-center.<\/p>\n They were just getting started, however. Joc Pederson<\/a><\/strong>, Garcia, and Marcus Semien<\/a><\/strong> all reached with singles. Up next was Josh Jung<\/a><\/strong>, who plated Pederson with a bases-loaded walk to make it 3\u20130.<\/p>\n On deck was Evan Carter<\/a><\/strong>, who drove in Garcia when he grounded into a 4\u20136 force play.<\/p>\n The Rockies got one back in the top of the second against lefty Patrick Corbin<\/a><\/strong>. With two outs, Michael Toglia<\/a><\/strong> stepped in and blasted a solo shot to left.<\/p>\n The Rangers scored two more in the bottom of the fifth. Jung reached on a single to right with two outs. Carter followed with a walk, bringing Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer<\/a><\/strong> to the mound to bring in reliever Scott Alexander<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n In stepped Jake Burger<\/a><\/strong>, who proceeded to score Jung and Carter with a double up the middle.<\/p>\n The Rockies answered back in the top of the sixth. A leadoff single by Brenton Doyle<\/a><\/strong> set the table for Kyle Farmer<\/a><\/strong>, who cut the lead in half with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left-center.<\/p>\n The Rangers responded in the bottom of the sixth with two outs. Pederson reached on a walk, prompting Schaeffer to bring in Angel Chivilli<\/a><\/strong> to relieve Alexander. Moments later, Garcia stepped in and lined a two-run dinger to right-center, his sixth of the campaign.<\/p>\n The Rangers did a nice job of scoring in the first on Wednesday, as they did in Tuesday’s game. Langford’s homer helped set the tone, and they had a lot of good hits and scoring opportunities that they were able to cash in on. On the defensive side, the Rangers were able to hold the Rockies out of the run column.<\/p>\n The homers by Toglia and Farmer loomed the main setbacks for the Rangers. It’s very hard to keep a major league team off the board for nine innings, and they certainly have the pitching to do that, but it wasn’t in the cards on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Rangers lefty Patrick Corbin made his seventh start of the season and earned his third victory Wednesday, posting his second consecutive quality start. His final line was 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R-ER, 1 BB, 9 SO, 2 HR, 94 pitches\/64 strikes. Corbin recorded season highs in pitches (94) and strikeouts (9) as his nine strikeouts were his most since June 28, 2023 against the Seattle Mariners<\/a>.<\/p>\n He struck out the side in order in the fourth and fifth innings, signifying the first time(s) for Corbin to fan all three batters faced in an inning since September 11, 2023 against the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>. The southpaw\u2019s six consecutive strikeouts marked a career high, surpassing his previous mark of five straight strikeouts. His 3.35 season ERA is his lowest through his first seven starts of a season since 2018 (2.15) when he finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting with the Diamondbacks. He owns a 3\u20132 record over those seven starts.<\/p>\n Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela shouldered his seventh loss of the season. That runs his record to 1\u20137 with an ERA of 6.39. His line was 4 2\/3 IP, 8 H, 6 R-ER, 4 BB, 3 SO, 1 HR, 97 pitches\/60 strikes. His seven losses tie him with Charlie Morton<\/a><\/strong> of the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> and Aaron Nola<\/a><\/strong> of the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> for the most in majors. After a no-decision in his 2025 debut on March 29 against the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a>, Senzatela has drawn the loss in seven of his last eight starts.<\/p>\n After the game, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy<\/strong><\/a> reflected on the effort his team put in during this series. “They did a really good job of coming out early,” he said. “Everyone was ready to play ball, and we jumped out early this series. That’s important when you can put pressure on in the opening innings. Their guys are going through an awful time, but they’re still a major league club, and we didn’t lose sight of that.
