ARLINGTON, Texas (Jul 2) \u2014 The Texas Rangers<\/a> cruised to a 6\u20130 victory over the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> Wednesday evening, winning the three-game series. Marcus Semien<\/a><\/strong> and Corey Seager<\/a><\/strong> each treated the crowd of to solo home runs, setting the tone for the win. With this series in the books, the Rangers have a 10-game road trip ahead of them that leads up to the All-Star Break. It will start with a three-game set against the San Diego Padres<\/a>. It will begin Friday with first pitch scheduled for 3:40 pm Pacific at Petco Park. Right-hander Kumar Rocker<\/a><\/strong> (3\u20134, 6.13 ERA) will take the mound for the Rangers, while righty Randy Vasquez<\/a><\/strong> (3\u20134, 3.84 ERA) will get the ball for the Padres.<\/p>\n As for the Orioles, they will finish their current road trip with a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves<\/a>. The opener for that matchup will also be on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 pm Eastern at Truist Park. Right-hander Charlie Morton<\/a><\/strong> (4\u20137, 5.63 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Orioles, and the Braves have yet to announce their starting pitcher as of press time.<\/p>\n Both teams traded zeroes for the first two and a half innings. The Rangers broke into the run column in the bottom of the third off Orioles starter Tomoyuki Sugano<\/a><\/strong>. Rookie outfielder Billy McKinney<\/a><\/strong> drew a walk. Later in the inning, Josh Smith<\/a> lined a one-out single to right, moving McKinney to second.<\/p>\n After Seager grounded to first, Semien stepped in and belted a three-run home run to the Orioles’ bullpen in left-center. It was his ninth of the season and it was on the first pitch he saw.<\/p>\n The Rangers extended their lead to 5\u20130 in the bottom of the fourth. Alejandro Osuna<\/a><\/strong> and Jonah Heim<\/a><\/strong> opened the frame with back-to-back singles. They both scored later in the inning on a two-out single up the middle by Ezequiel Duran<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n They made it 6\u20130 in the bottom of the fifth on a leadoff homer over the wall in center by Seager, his 11th of the year.<\/p>\n It’s not every night that Semien and Seager both hit home runs in the same game. When they do, however, it is a tremendous help to this club. Aside from the homers, they had a big two-run single by Duran in the fourth. When you have power and guys that can do the little things both in your lineup, it’s a great recipe for success.<\/p>\n The only thing the Rangers could have done better in this game was allow fewer baserunners. That’s saying something, considering their pitching staff only allowed five hits.<\/p>\n Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi<\/a><\/strong> made his 14th start of the season. He picked up his fifth win, improving to 5\u20133 with an ERA of 1.75. He stymied the O\u2019s to two hits and a walk over his five scoreless frames, throwing 72 pitches in his second start since being activated from the IL on June 27. His final line was 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 SO, 72 pitches\/50 strikes.<\/p>\n Wednesday\u2019s outing lowered Eovaldi\u2019s season ERA to 1.75, signifying the second-lowest ERA through a pitcher\u2019s first 14 starts of a season in franchise history to Rick Honeycutt<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s 1.49 ERA through 14 GS in 1983. Eovaldi was backed with a season-high six runs of support. His six runs on Wednesday doubled his combined total from his previous four starts.<\/p>\n Reliever Dane Dunning<\/a> earned a rare three-inning save as he took over for fellow reliever Jacob Webb<\/a><\/strong> in the seventh. It marks the second save for Dunning as he allowed two hits and a walk, while striking out one.<\/p>\n Orioles starter Tomoyuki Sugano was unable to complete five innings for the fourth time in his last five starts. His line was 4 2\/3 IP, 10 H, 6 R-ER, 1 BB, 5 SO, 2 HR, WP, 79 pitches\/51 strikes, yielding a season-high 10 hits in his first career start against the Rangers.<\/p>\n Sugano allowed six or more runs and nine or more hits for the second straight start, this after surrendering four or fewer runs and eight or fewer hits in each of his first 15 appearances of the year. He has surrendered one or more home runs in four straight. After shouldering the loss on Wednesday, his record now sits at 6\u20135 with an ERA of 4.44.<\/p>\n After the game, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy<\/strong><\/a> expressed his gratitude to his players for getting this win. “It was a great way to bounce back,” he said. “We had a string of extra-inning games and they fought as hard then as they did tonight. Corey (Seager) and Marcus (Semien) came up big for us tonight. It’s always great to see both of them at the top of their game.
