The Texas Rangers<\/a> have acquired right-hander Jos\u00e9 Ruiz<\/a><\/strong> and cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves<\/a> in exchange for righty Dane Dunning<\/a><\/strong>. Ruiz was sent to Triple-A Gwinnett by the Braves on June 22 and will report to Triple-A Round Rock in the coming days.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0Ruiz\u2019 2025 Season<\/h4>\n

<\/u>Jose Ruiz<\/a> has split the 2025 season between the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> and the Braves organizations. He saw action with both clubs\u2019 major league teams and Triple-A affiliates this year.\u00a0 As a member of the Phillies\u2019 Opening Day roster, the right-hander made 16 relief appearances for them. In 18 relief outings this season, Ruiz is 1\u20130 with an 8.82 ERA and 15 strikeouts against nine walks. He has also totaled nine appearances in Triple-A between the two organizations, going 0\u20132 with a 3.72 ERA.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

A native of Guacara, Venezuela, the nine-year veteran has compiled an 11\u20139 record with one save. He had a 4.62 ERA and 284 strikeouts in 282 games with the San Diego Padres<\/a> in 2017. Ruiz spent time with the Chicago White Sox<\/a> from 2018-23, the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> in 2023, Philadelphia from 2024-25, and Atlanta in 2025. Ruiz was originally a signing of the Padres in 2011 to a minor league free agent contract as a catcher. He made his major league debut on July 24, 2017 against the New York Mets<\/a> after 42 minor league appearances between the Rookie, Single-A, and High-A levels. Ruiz also played for Venezuela in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, tossing 4 1\/3 scoreless innings across three relief outings.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/u>\u00a0Dunning\u2019s 2025 Season<\/u><\/h4>\n

The 30-year-old Dunning posted no record with a 3.38 ERA in five appearances for the Rangers this season. He also made 11 starts for Triple-A Round Rock. Dunning owns a 4.36 ERA in 122 appearances and 95 starts for the Rangers from 2021-25.\u00a0 He holds a career record of 28\u201332 with a 4.34 ERA after debuting with the White Sox in 2020. Atlanta marks Dunning\u2019s fourth organization, as he was taken by the Washington Nationals<\/a> in the first round of the 2016 Draft before being traded to the White Sox in December 2016.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/u><\/p>\n
