MLB All-Star outfielder Juan Soto<\/a> scored six RBI during Monday\u2019s game at Comerica Park to help the New York Mets<\/a> take down the Detroit Tigers<\/a> 10-8.<\/p>\n Soto ended the outing 2-for-3 with two runs and two hits.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel that\u2019s one of the best things you can do as a baseball player, come up clutch for your team and try to help them win a game,\u201d Soto told SNY<\/a> during a postgame when asked about how he felt after helping his team win their 74th game of the season.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The Mets’ shortstop Francisco Lindor<\/a> and Soto reached base on walks during the first inning before the Tigers recorded a double play when Pete Alonso<\/a> came up to hit. The home team got the final out on a groundout from Brandon Nimmo<\/a>.<\/p>\n Tigers designated hitter Jahmai Jones<\/a> then scored the first run of the ballgame on a solo home run to left field.<\/p>\n The Mets responded with a two-run second inning that began when a pitch hit Mark Vientos<\/a>. Jeff McNeil<\/a> hit a single before Cedric Mullins<\/a> laid down a sacrifice bunt. Catcher Luis Torrens<\/a> hit an RBI double to score McNeil and Vientos.<\/p>\n Detroit retook the lead during the third inning with a two-run home run by Wenceel Perez<\/a>. The outfielder scored second baseman Gleyber Torres<\/a>, who was walked by Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea<\/a>. McNeil, the Mets’ second baseman, hit a single in the fourth inning before Mullins was walked. Torrens then hit a single to shallow right field to load the bases. Soto hit his second career grand slam to center field to help his team mount a three-run lead.<\/p>\n Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler<\/a> hit a single during the bottom of the fourth before shortstop Zach McKinstry<\/a> hit a triple to shallow right field. Jones then hit an RBI single to score McKinstry. Detroit tied the game at 6-6 during the top of the fifth. Spencer Torkelson<\/a> and Andy Ibanez<\/a> hit singles before Torkelson made it home on a wild pitch.<\/p>\n Torrens, the Mets catcher, then hit a single during the top of the sixth. Lindor was hit by a pitch before Soto hit a two-RBI triple to score both men. Soto was then scored by an RBI single from Nimmo.<\/p>\n In the top of the seventh, Luisangel Acuna<\/a> replaced McNeil after a fielding error by Torres allowed him to get to first. Acuna then stole second before Mullins was walked. Brett Baty<\/a> then scored Acuna on a sacrifice bunt.<\/p>\n In the bottom of the eighth, the Mets held a three-run lead that Detroit cut down to two on a double from Jones and then a groundout by Perez.<\/p>\n Soto was the Mets’ primary source of production on offense. His six-RBI game helped rejuvenate New York\u2019s lineup, which recorded eight hits and 10 runs. The Mets used this shift in momentum to take down the Tigers.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the moment,\u201d Soto said. \u201cI feel like whoever gets hot in September is the team that goes all the way.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Closer Edwin Diaz<\/a> then played a key role during the final two innings to help the Mets take down the Tigers by striking out two of their hitters.<\/p>\n Manaea, the starting pitcher, struggled to stop the Tigers from getting on base. He surrendered eight hits and five runs in 3 1\/2 innings of action, although he struck out six.<\/p>\n \u201cI have high expectations for myself,\u201d Manaea told SNY<\/a> during a postgame. \u201cI know this organization does. Everyone\u2019s pulling their weight, doing their thing, and I\u2019m not.\u201d<\/p>\n He described his experience as \u201cvery frustrating\u201d since he felt he was doing everything right, but it did \u201cnot work out right.\u201d<\/p>\n New York can compensate for dropping their last homestead to the Miami Marlins<\/a>. If the Mets take down the Tigers on Tuesday and Wednesday, they can sweep the series.
