The Boston Red Sox<\/a> showcase their offensive firepower with an 11-7 victory over the Cleveland Guardians<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Red Sox – Guardians Game Summary<\/h2>\n

The Guardians started the offense in the second inning. Jhonkensy Noel<\/a> curved a ball around Pesky Pole to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead. The bottom half saw a booming response from the Sox. After a Trevor Story<\/a> strikeout, Boston got six straight baserunners on safely, resulting in four runs coming across.<\/p>\n

Despite a strong outing from Garrett Crochet<\/a> through five innings, the 6th was where the wheels fell off. Cleveland scored six runs, powered by three home runs in the inning, to give the Guardians a 7-5 lead.<\/p>\n

Boston once again responded in the bottom half. Ceddanne Rafaela<\/a>, who drove in two runs earlier, left the stadium with a two-run bomb to tie the game. Very little happened in the seventh, as well as the top of the 8th.<\/p>\n

Much like the second inning, the Sox rallied. With two outs, the Sox took the lead on an Alex Bregman<\/a> infield single. Just as Aroldis Chapman<\/a> was getting ready, Boston scored insurance. A Jarren Duran<\/a> double gave Boston a two-run lead. Soon after, Story followed with a double to score two, giving Boston an 11-7 lead, and Chapman a rest day.<\/p>\n

Lefty Brennan Bernardino<\/a> shut the Guardian offense down, securing the Sox’s 78th victory and their 44th home win.<\/p>\n

What Went Right for the Sox<\/h2>\n

Red Sox Offensive Firepower<\/h3>\n

The Red Sox showed much more offensive prowess in today’s matchup than they have recently. They put up the most runs they have since their 12-1 smacking of the New York Yankees<\/a> on August 23. Not only that, they did a lot of damage against possibly Cleveland\u2019s best reliever, Cade Smith<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Red Sox Resiliency<\/h3>\n

The Guardians never quit throughout the matchup. Luckily for the Sox, neither did they. Despite the Guardians blowing up the Sox\u2019s ace, the lineup didn\u2019t let it deter them.<\/p>\n

Didn\u2019t Need Chapman<\/h3>\n

Despite being tied going into the bottom of the 8th, the Sox exploded– so much so that closer Aroldis Chapman didn\u2019t need to pitch. Bernardino pitched the 9th and got the Guardians out 1-2-3.<\/p>\n

What Went Wrong for the Sox<\/h2>\n

Crochet Blow-Up Start<\/h3>\n

Although it\u2019s nice seeing the offense firing like that, you never want to see your ace get blown up. Crochet gave up the most runs he\u2019s let up in a start throughout his entire career. Of the four home runs Crochet gave up, three of them were on pitches down the middle.<\/p>\n

Crochet\u2019s Declining Cy Young Chances<\/h3>\n

Starts like this are likely to push a would-be Cy Young contender out of the race. This almost certainly puts Tarik Skubal<\/a> as the heavy favorite for the AL Cy Young award.<\/p>\n

Anthony’s Injury<\/h3>\n

Roman Anthony<\/a> left the game after his 4th inning at-bat due to injury. It was due to oblique tightness, which could keep him out for some time. Not good when the Sox are close to the postseason, trying to secure a spot in October.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead<\/h3>\n

Boston looks to complete the home sweep on Wednesday before heading out to Chase Field to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a>. The Sox sit 2 1\/2 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> for first in the AL East, while remaining first in the AL Wild Card standings.<\/p>\n
