Juan Soto<\/a> hit a two-run home run to end Friday\u2019s game at Citi Field with three RBI and help the New York Mets<\/a> take down the Washington Nationals<\/a> 12-6.<\/p>\n Soto\u2019s blast<\/a> was his 42nd of the year, and it went down as his career high in home runs. His previous best was 41, which he hit last season with the New York Yankees<\/a>.<\/p>\n Francisco Lindor<\/a> hit a single during the first inning, before being scored after a single from Pete Alonso<\/a> and a fielding error by Dylan Crews<\/a>, the Nationals outfielder.<\/p>\n Mets rookie pitcher Brandon Sproat<\/a> walked Paul DeJong<\/a> during the third inning before Jorge Alfaro<\/a> hit a single. DeJong was brought home by a throwing error from Sproat.<\/p>\n Sproat then walked Jacob Young<\/a>, before CJ Abrams<\/a> hit an RBI double to score Alfaro. Josh Bell<\/a> then hit an RBI double to bring Abrams home. Daylen Lile<\/a> hit an RBI triple to score Bell and give the Nationals a three-run lead.<\/p>\n Lindor reached base on a walk during the third, before Soto hit a single. Alonso then hit a two-run RBI single to score both base runners.<\/p>\n Sproat was pulled after four innings. He ended the outing with five strikeouts, but surrendered four hits, four runs, and two walks.<\/p>\n Brandon Nimmo<\/a> and Starling Marte<\/a> hit singles during the fourth inning, before being scored by Francisco Alvarez<\/a>\u2019s two RBI double. A pitch hit Brett Baty<\/a> before Lindor hit a single. Alvarez scored during that play due to a fielding error by James Wood<\/a>. Soto\u2019s two-run home run then scored Lindor and Baty.<\/p>\n Abrams, the Nationals’ shortstop, responded during the fifth inning with a two-run home run that scored Young. Young had reached base on a single.<\/p>\n Jeff McNeil<\/a> hit a single during the seventh, before being replaced by pinch-runner Luisangel Acuna<\/a>. Acuna stole second and was scored by a groundout from Marte.<\/p>\n Lindor hit a double during the eighth inning, before Soto and Alonso reached base on walks. With the bases loaded, Lindor scored on a walk from Acuna. Nimmo then hit a two-RBI single to score Alonso and Soto. This gave the Mets a six-run lead and helped them take down Washington.<\/p>\n The Mets were able to take down the Nationals by ending the game with 11 RBI and 13 hits. Nimmo and Alvarez ended with two RBI, while Lindor, Soto, Acuna, and Marte ended with one.<\/p>\n Relief pitchers Ryan Helsley<\/a> and Tyler Rogers<\/a> each pitched an inning. Chris Devenski<\/a> sealed the Mets’ 80th triumph of the season by striking out two.<\/p>\n Sproat ended with a 3.94 ERA after giving up four runs in four innings. He gave up four of the Nationals’ six runs. Huascar Brazoban<\/a> surrendered the other two.<\/p>\n The Mets can take the series if they defeat the Nationals on Saturday or Sunday.
