New York Mets<\/a> shortstop Francisco Lindor<\/a> reached 30 home runs in the Mets’ 8-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs<\/a> on Thursday. With the blast, Lindor became the fifth player — and the second Met \u2014 to hit 30 homers and steal 30 bases this season.<\/p>\n

Lindor’s teammate Juan Soto<\/a>, the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a>‘ Corbin Carroll<\/a>, the New York Yankees<\/a>‘ Jazz Chisholm Jr<\/a>., and the Cleveland Guardians<\/a>‘ Jose Ramirez<\/a> have also reached 30-30 in 2025. That makes this season the most prolific 30-30 season in MLB history.<\/p>\n

History Made<\/h2>\n

Soto and Lindor became the third pair of teammates to go 30-30 in a single season. Howard Johnson<\/a> and Darryl Strawberry<\/a> did it for the Mets in 1987. Dante Bichette<\/a> and Ellis Burks<\/a> reached the mark for the Colorado Rockies<\/a> in 1996.<\/p>\n

It’s the second time Lindor has gone 30-30, as he hit 31 homers and stole 31 bases in 2023. The Mets have had eight 30-30 seasons, the most in the league. Johnson did it thrice (1987, 1989, 1991); Lindor twice (2023, 2025); and Strawberry (1987), David Wright<\/a> (2007), and Soto (2025) once.<\/p>\n

Lindor’s Steadiness<\/h2>\n

Lindor has been a consistent presence for the Mets over the last few seasons. He’s played in at least 150 games each of the last four years. He came a stolen base shy of reaching 30-30 in 2024, and could’ve reached the mark if not for a back ailment that kept him out of the lineup for a week in September.<\/p>\n

That steadiness in the lineup has put Lindor in some impressive company. Lindor has hit 25 home runs and stolen 25 bases four times in his career, the only shortstop to ever do so. Lindor’s six seasons of at least 30 home runs is the second-most by any shortstop, only behind Alex Rodriguez<\/a>. Lindor, Ramirez, Bobby Witt Jr<\/a>., and Ronald Acu\u00f1a Jr<\/a>. are the only active players with multiple 30-30 seasons.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n

The Mets play their final series of the regular season over the weekend, a three-game set against the Miami Marlins<\/a>. Game One of the series is Friday at 7:10 p.m. Eastern and will be broadcast on SNY. Brandon Sproat<\/a> (0-3, 3.94 ERA) takes the mound for the Mets, while Sandy Alcantara<\/a> (10-12, 5.48 ERA) starts for the Marlins.<\/p>\n

The Mets are a game up on the Cincinnati Reds<\/a> in the race for the final N.L. Wild Card spot. The Mets’ magic number to clinch the spot is three.<\/p>\n

“You want to stay alive,” Lindor told reporters postgame<\/a>. “We’ve got to go take care of business.”<\/p>\n
