On Friday evening, the Texas Rangers<\/a> announced that the club has named Skip Schumaker<\/strong><\/a> as their new manager.\u00a0 Schumaker has agreed to a four-year contract covering the 2026-29 seasons. \u00a0The Rangers will introduce Schumaker at a formal press conference at a later date.<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/u>\u00a0Statement From Chris Young<\/u><\/h4>\n

\u201cWe are happy to announce this promotion and have Skip leading this club in the dugout,\u201d said Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young. \u201cOver his time as a senior advisor to our baseball operations group, Skip has proven to be a great asset in everything he does. He has a winning spirit and energy, and we are fortunate that someone so highly regarded in the industry has agreed to become our manager.”<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have enjoyed getting to know Skip and his family since he joined the organization last year. We look forward to welcoming his wife Lindsey and the entire Schumaker family to the Metroplex.\u201d<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/u>\u00a0What Schumaker Brings to Arlington<\/u><\/h4>\n

Skip Schumaker <\/span>becomes the 21st full-time manager in Rangers history. He <\/span>served the past year as Senior Advisor, Baseball Operations, after joining the Rangers in November of 2024.\u00a0 He spent the previous two seasons as the manager of the Miami Marlins<\/a>. Skip Schumaker was selected as the 2023 National League Manager of the Year after leading the Marlins to an 84-78 record. He also led them to the fourth postseason appearance in club history.\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am honored and excited for this opportunity to manage the Rangers,\u201d said Schumaker. Throughout my time here, I attained a good understanding of the organization through my front office role this past season, the conversations with Chris Young, Ross Fenstermaker, and others this week have only intensified my interest.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to begin the work for 2026.\u201d<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Other News<\/h4>\n

Former Rangers manager Bruce Bochy<\/a><\/strong> has a standing offer to remain with the organization, although Young didn\u2019t sound too confident that would happen. \u201cWe\u2019re hopeful he\u2019ll remain in the organization, but I\u2019m guessing he\u2019s going to have good [outside] options,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
