Three players from the Boston Red Sox<\/a> have been selected as 2025 Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalists for their positions. The finalists are catcher Carlos Narvaez<\/a>, center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela<\/a>, and right fielder Wilyer Abreu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Carlos Narvaez<\/h3>\n

Narvaez was ranked as the 32nd best prospect in the New York Yankees<\/a> farm system in 2024, according to FanGraphs<\/a>. The Red Sox eventually traded minor league pitcher Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz<\/a>, as well as international bonus pool money. Rodriguez-Cruz has only made it to Triple-A for one start at the end of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

Narvaez ranks first among American League catchers in defensive runs saved, while leading the majors with 24 caught stealings. He\u2019s going up against Alejandro Kirk<\/a> of the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> and Dillon Dingler<\/a> of the Detroit Tigers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ceddanne Rafaela<\/h3>\n

Rafaela\u2019s glove was the only reason he was able to stay on the field in the second half of the 2025 season. It sure wasn\u2019t his .587 OPS at the plate after the All-Star break. Rafaela currently sits at or near the top of most defensive metrics among all players and has emerged as one of the best defenders in all of baseball.<\/p>\n

Among center fielders, he leads in metrics such as defensive runs saved, outs above average, and fielding run value. He is up against the Kansas City Royals’<\/a> Kyle Isbel<\/a>, as well as Julio Rodriguez<\/a> of the Seattle Mariners<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wilyer Abreu<\/h3>\n

Abreu, despite only playing 115 games due to injury, looks to take home his second consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Award. \u00a0Although Texas Rangers<\/a> Adolis Garcia<\/a> edges him out 16-15 in defensive runs saved, Abreu has a decent-sized lead in outs above average and fielding run value. Abreu will be going against Garcia, as well as Cam Smith<\/a> of the Houston Astros<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The winners of the AL and NL Gold Glove Awards will be announced on November 2.<\/p>\n
