The Boston Red Sox<\/a> were very busy on the trade market Tuesday. The Red Sox would swing three separate trades that saw pitchers who made appearances for the Red Sox get shipped out of Boston.<\/p>\n

Bernardino to the Rockies<\/h3>\n

Brennan Bernardino<\/a><\/strong> was shipped out to the Colorado Rockies<\/a> in exchange for center fielder Braiden Ward<\/strong><\/a>. Bernardino, who was fifth among Red Sox pitchers in appearances, pitched to a 3.14 ERA in 2025. However, his strikeout percentage and walk percentage have taken a hit from 2024-2025. His K% from 24.8 to 19.2%, and his walk rate going up from 9.7 to 11.6%.<\/p>\n

Ward, a 16th round draft pick in 2021 out of the University of Washington, has seemingly been a late bloomer. Although never described as a particularly great bat, Ward would hit to a .906 OPS in Triple-A Albuquerque in 2025 in 44 games. His strengths are his speed and defensive versatility, being able to play the outfield, while notching innings at second base.<\/p>\n

Murphy to the White Sox<\/h4>\n

Left-hander Chris Murphy<\/strong><\/a> was traded to the Chicago White Sox<\/a> for catching prospect Ronny Hernandez<\/strong><\/a>. Murphy, after needing Tommy John surgery in 2024, pitched in 34 2\/3 innings to a 3.12 ERA. Although his walk and strikeout rate took bumps in the wrong direction since his surgery, his groundball rate jumped up by nearly 10% from 44.7% to 54.3%.<\/p>\n

Hernandez, an international signing out of Venezuela, hasn\u2019t played above Single-A Kannapolis. He does have a 115 WRC+ in his time in the minors. Overall, he\u2019s very much a long-term project who has slim chances of panning out into being a major leaguer. However, that was the prediction for former New York Yankees<\/a> prospect Carlos Narvaez<\/strong><\/a>, so who\u2019s to say Hernandez doesn\u2019t follow the same route?<\/p>\n

Guerrero to the Rays<\/h4>\n

Righty Luis Guerrero<\/strong><\/a> would be the final of the three to be dealt. He went to the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> for infielder Tristan Gray<\/strong><\/a>. Guerrero pitched in 17 1\/3 innings with the Red Sox in 2025 to a 4.15 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He\u2019s a prototypical high velocity, bad command type of pitcher, averaging 96 MPH on his fastball, but boasting high walk numbers.<\/p>\n

Gray, a 29-year old infielder, would notch a career-high 30 games in the majors last season, tallying a 91 OPS+. In the minors, his biggest strength was defensive versatility, logging time at all four infield spots during his long tenure.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/h4>\n

The Red Sox have been at the center of some pretty serious trade rumors. With their surplus of outfielders, Wilyer Abreu<\/strong><\/a> or Jarren Duran<\/strong><\/a> are at serious risk of leaving Boston. We\u2019ll just have to wait and see what happens.<\/p>\n
