Warren Schaeffer<\/a><\/strong> will remain as the Colorado Rockies<\/a> manager, the team decided on Monday. The 40-year-old served as their interim manager last season after Bud Black<\/strong><\/a> was fired in May. He will be the Rockies’ eighth full-time manager in team history.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this team,\u201d Schaeffer said. \u201cMy focus remains on continuing to build a strong, unified culture based on accountability, hard work, and trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last season, the Rockies had a losing record, at 43\u2013119, for the seventh consecutive time. In 2026, Schaeffer will attempt to guide them in a new direction, with catcher Hunter Goodman <\/a><\/strong>\u00a0leading the charge. However, it won\u2019t be easy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a group of guys who care deeply about competing the right way, and my goal is to keep strengthening those relationships while leading a team that our fans can embrace,\u201d Schaeffer added.<\/p>\n

From Prospect to the Rockies Manager<\/h4>\n

Schaffer was selected by the Rockies in the 38th round of the 2007 draft out of Virginia Tech. He was an infielder in the team\u2019s farm system from 2007 to 12. He then transitioned into coaching, serving as the manager of the Rockies\u2019 Single-A affiliate, the Asheville Tourists. Schaffer went on to manage the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats and the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes. Before becoming the interim manager, Schaffer worked as the Rockies’ third base and infield coach. He has spent over a decade with the organization in a player development capacity.<\/p>\n

He became the Rockies’ interim manager in May, after the team started the year 7\u201333. Through the rest of last season, the team went 36\u201386. However, Schaffer believes that the brutal previous campaign will be a turning point for them. After the All-Star break, the Rockies won 17 of their next 35 games, further helping Schaffer prove his worth. However, his team ended the season poorly, losing 23 of their final 29 games. However, that hasn\u2019t stopped Schaffer from remaining optimistic with next season on the horizon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do believe in this group of guys,\u201d Schaeffer said. \u201cAt the end of the day, we want to develop a culture where they run the show, and they teach the next generation of Rockies players how we do things here. And it leads to winning season after winning season.”<\/p>\n
