ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec 9) \u2014 The Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> and outfielder Kyle Schwarber<\/a><\/strong> have agreed to terms on a five\u2013year contract. News of this development was first reported by MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand at this year’s Winter Meetings. The new deal in place is worth $150 million. The club has not confirmed the signing. With Schwarber off the board, one of this year’s biggest offseason free agent mysteries has been solved.<\/p>\n

Power at the Plate<\/h4>\n

Kyle Schwarber had a very nice 2025 campaign. He led the National League with 56 home runs and the majors with 132 RBI while ranking fifth among qualifiers with a .928 OPS. Once the season concluded, the Phillies tendered a\u00a0qualifying offer to Schwarber, which he turned down. That offer would have netted him $22.025 million for 2026, and attached him to Draft compensation; The Phillies would have received a 2026 Draft pick after the fourth round if he had signed elsewhere.<\/p>\n

The 2025 season marked the end of Kyle Schwarber’s previous four-year pact with the Phillies, which was worth $79 million. One of his high points of 2025 came on August 28 against the Atlanta Braves<\/a> when he became the 21st player to homer four times in a single game. His performance that day helped the Phillies rout the Braves 19\u20134 at Citizens Bank Park.<\/p>\n

Back to the Fall Classic<\/h4>\n

The Phillies ended their postseason drought in Schwarber\u2019s first season with the club and went all the way to the World Series. The celebration came to a halt when they lost to the Houton Astros in that series. They did, however, manage to make the playoffs in each of the next three years.<\/p>\n

In the span of his four-year contract, Schwarber ranked among baseball’s elite in homers with 187, walks with 426, RBI with 434, and runs scored with 429. He also added 14 postseason home runs in that timeframe. Both he and the Phillies are hoping that lightning will strike again in 2026.<\/p>\n
