ORLANDO, Fla (Dec 10) \u2014 The Texas Rangers<\/a> acquired righty Carter Baumler<\/a><\/strong> from the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>. The trade occurred Wednesday at the 2025 Winter Meetings. Going to the Pirates in the exchange are right-hander Jaiker Garcia<\/a><\/strong> and cash considerations.\u00a0 Baumler, who was taken by the Pirates from the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> in the Major League phase of Wednesday\u2019s Rule 5 Draft, joins the Rangers\u2019 40-man roster, which stands at 35 players.<\/p>\n

Limited Innings<\/h4>\n

Carter Baumler, 23, went 2\u20130 with 2 saves and a 2.04 ERA over 28 relief appearances in 2025. He moved through the ranks, spending time with the Orioles’ Rookie-level FCL Orioles, High-A Aberdeen, and Double-A Chesapeake clubs. The right-hander did not yield a home run. He recorded a 10.4 SO\/9 ratio and a 1.084 WHIP, the seventh-lowest WHIP figure among Orioles farmhands.<\/p>\n

Baumler has gone 7\u20131 with 2 saves, a 3.05 ERA, and 104 strikeouts against 40 walks over 49 career games.\u00a0 He did not see official game action in 2021 while recovering from Tommy John surgery in October 2020. He will make a nice addition to the Rangers’ bullpen, which was a sore spot, in the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

Jaiker Garcia<\/h4>\n

Garcia went 3\u20133 with two saves and a 4.66 ERA in 18 appearances for the Rookie-level ACL Rangers in 2025.\u00a0 The righty carries a career 5\u20138 record with a 7.22 ERA in 37 career appearances.\u00a0 A Venezuela native, Garcia originally signed with the Rangers in 2022. He began his professional career as a position player before transitioning to pitching full-time in 2023.<\/p>\n

Other News<\/h4>\n

Additionally, two players from the Rangers organization\u00a0<\/span>were selected by other clubs in the minor league phase of Wednesday’s Rule 5 Draft. They are right-handers Jackson Kelley<\/a><\/strong> by the Chicago White Sox<\/a> off the Rangers\u2019 Double-A roster, and Kyle Larsen<\/a><\/strong> by the Pirates off the Rangers\u2019 Single-A roster.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rule 5 Draft allows clubs without a full 40-man roster to select certain non-40-man roster players from other clubs. Clubs picking a player must pay $100,000 to the team from which said player came.<\/p>\n
