Mike Tauchman<\/strong><\/a> is set to bring his talents to Queens this season. The veteran outfielder previously played two seasons for the New York Yankees.<\/a> He will now cross over to the New York Mets<\/a> on a minor league deal, as first reported Tuesday afternoon by The Athletic<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

The move comes after the Mets added reliever Bryan Hudson<\/strong><\/a> to their bullpen. Tauchman gives them another option to play right field, a position they have yet to fill. Highly coveted prospect Carson Benge<\/strong><\/a> is expected to receive the job. That, however, can take some time to materialize, since he has yet to play in the major leagues.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Tauchman can compete with Tyrone Taylor<\/strong><\/a> to fill the void. Tauchman spent this past season with the Chicago White Sox<\/a>, hitting nine home runs and 40 RBI in 93 appearances.<\/p>\n

What Mike Tauchman Brings<\/h4>\n

Selected by the Colorado Rockies<\/a> in the 10th round of the 2013 draft, Mike Tauchman didn\u2019t make his major league debut until 2017. In two seasons at hitter-friendly Coors Field, he had nine hits with two RBI. He had a breakout year in his first stint with the Yankees, recording 72 hits, 47 RBI and 13 home runs. The Yankees moved on from Tauchman in 2021, dealing him to the San Francisco Giants<\/a>. He had 27 hits, 15 RBI and four home runs with the Giants.<\/p>\n

He spent his next two seasons with the Chicago Cubs<\/a>, where he had 159 hits, 30 doubles and 15 home runs in 751 appearances. Overall, Mike Tauchman brings good hitting to a Mets outfield in need of experience if he joins the major league roster.<\/p>\n

He could play next to Luis Robert Jr.<\/strong><\/a> and Juan Soto<\/strong><\/a>, who will play center field and left field respectively. Soto spent last season in right field, but is moving over after spending the offseason playing left in preparation of the World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n
