The New York Mets<\/a> announced Tuesday their intention to make two much-needed additions to Citi Field this season. They plan to provide fans with a more enjoyable, exciting and pleasant experience for when they attend a game.<\/p>\n

Expansion of Transportation<\/h4>\n

The Mets first announced upgrades to the transportation system used to reach Citi Field. The first course of action is to introduce innovative location-specific travel plans based on real-time traffic and transportation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fan experience is our top priority, executive vice president of ballpark operations Katie Haas said. \u201cThese new options provide greater flexibility today, and we\u2019re equally excited about the long-term vision for the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans who drive to the ballpark can prepay $40 for parking. Fans can do this instead of paying at the stadium. However, this can lead to longer wait times than expected. Still, paying for parking at the ballpark will remain an option, but it will cost $50.<\/p>\n

The Mets plan to reduce traffic by offering cheaper<\/a> Long Island Rail Road tickets. $5.00 will be taken off the fees for those traveling to Mets Willets Point. Additionally, shuttle buses will be available for anyone traveling from New Jersey, the Bronx or Long Island.<\/p>\n

Real-time Radio Broadcasts<\/h4>\n

The Mets’ second addition is adding designated stations<\/a> to Citi Field for fans to listen to the games on the radio. This can be accessed via the MLB Ballpark app, in partnership with Audacy and SportsBug.<\/p>\n

Fans in attendance can listen to fan favorite broadcasters Howie Rose, Keith Raad and Pat McCarthy call home runs. This new service will, therefore, be available free of charge to anyone using a mobile device.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy syncing the atmosphere and energy of watching a game at Citi Field with the iconic voices of Mets radio, we\u2019re delivering a more immersive and connected experience for fans,\u201d Mets vice president of business operations John Ricco said.<\/p>\n
