Francisco Alvarez<\/a> hit two home runs to lift the New York Mets<\/a> to a 10-3 triumph over the San Francisco Giants<\/a> at Oracle Park Friday. The 26-year-old catcher sent a ball over the center field wall during the fourth inning before hitting his second solo shot during the seventh. His performance helped the Mets snap a three-game losing streak going into the third game of this series.<\/p>\n

Marcus Semien<\/a>, however, was at the top of the Mets stat sheet, going 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBI. Francisco Lindor<\/a> and Bo Bichette<\/a> tallied three hits. The lineup performed up to their expectations to provide run support for righty Nolan McLean<\/a>, who went five innings and gave up two runs in his second start.<\/p>\n

Mets Strike First<\/h2>\n

Lindor and Juan Soto<\/a> got on base with singles to start the first inning. Bichette scored Lindor on an RBI single to deep right field. Luis Robert Jr.<\/a> and Mark Vientos<\/a> reached base on a walk. Semien\u2019s single would score Bichette, putting the Mets in front early.<\/p>\n

Vientos hit a single to start the fourth before Semien hit a two-run home run. Alvarez followed this up with his first solo home run of the ballgame, giving the Mets a comfortable five-run lead before the Giants could respond.<\/p>\n

Cruising to Victory<\/h2>\n

Harrison Bader<\/a> and Patrick Bailey<\/a> reached base on a walk during the sixth. Willy Adames<\/a> hit an RBI double to score Bader. Bailey then scored on a passed ball. This brought the Mets’ lead down to three with three innings remaining.<\/p>\n

Francisco Alvarez hit his second home run of the game to kickstart the seventh inning. Lindor walked to base before Bichette hit a double. Robert scored Lindor on an RBI single. Vientos then brought Bichette home with an RBI single. This gave the Mets a six-run lead.<\/p>\n

Jerar Encarnacion<\/a> hit a double to start the eighth. He was then scored by an RBI single from Luis Arraez<\/a>. This brought the Mets’ lead back down to five. However, an RBI double from Brett Baty<\/a> and another run sealed the Mets’ seven-run victory.<\/p>\n

What Went Right for the Mets<\/h2>\n

Francisco Alvarez and Semien led the Mets lineup with five hits and five RBI. They were the driving force behind the Mets’ 15 total hits and 10 RBI. McLean was able to collect four strikeouts in five innings against the Giants. Huascar Brazoban<\/a>, Richard Lovelady<\/a>, and Luis Garcia<\/a> each went an inning, combining for three strikeouts with only one run allowed.<\/p>\n

What Went Wrong for the Mets<\/h2>\n

Soto, who has consistently scored runs for the Mets, exited the game in the first inning with a right calf injury. He will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the injury. If Soto is out of action, the team will have to rely on Lindor and Bichette to lead the lineup.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n

After Francisco Alvarez helped the Mets crush the Giants once, he will look to do it again. The third game of the four-game series between the two teams is scheduled for 6:05 pm Pacific.<\/p>\n
