The Boston Red Sox<\/a> won their second consecutive series with a 9\u20133 win over the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> on Sunday at Busch Stadium. Both Willson Contreras<\/strong><\/a> and Jarren Duran<\/strong><\/a> had three RBI each. Brayan Bello<\/strong><\/a> pitched 6 2\/3 innings allowing two runs on six hits and two walks and striking out two.<\/p>\n Willson Contreras continued raking against his former team. With two outs in the first inning, Contreras launched a ball into the grass in center 411 feet for his third home run on the season.<\/p>\n The Red Sox added another run, but stranded two in the next inning. Roman Anthony<\/strong><\/a>, with the bases loaded, grounded to Ramon Urias<\/a><\/strong> at third, scoring Trevor Story<\/strong><\/a> in the process.\u00a0 Jordan Walker<\/strong><\/a> responded in kind by taking a Brayan Bello cutter and driving it 436 feet for his league-leading seventh home run of the year.<\/p>\n The Red Sox once again had the bases loaded in the fourth. This time, Duran cleared the bases with a double to make it 6\u20131. Contreras followed up with an RBI single to extend the lead to 7\u20131.<\/p>\n The Cardinals got their own bases-loaded situation with one out in the bottom of the sixth. However, a sacrifice fly from Nolan Gorman<\/strong><\/a> would be the only run the Cardinals scored in the inning. A two-out single by Victor Scott II<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0ended Bello’s night, as Danny Coulombe<\/strong><\/a> came in and got the final out of the seventh.<\/p>\n Zack Kelly<\/strong><\/a> entered the game to start the eighth inning. However, Alec Burleson<\/strong><\/a> took him deep with a solo shot to center field to make it 7\u20133. The Red Sox responded in the top of the ninth with Story knocking in a two-run double. Kelly went on to the entire ninth without much trouble.<\/p>\n Trevor Story had undoubtedly his best game of the year. 4-for-5 with two RBI.<\/p>\n Bello simply looked like he wanted to get outs however he could get them. He threw his sinker a lot more, which led to much more success with his other pitches. He forced a lot of weak contact, and made things easy for the fielders.<\/p>\n It wasn’t the worst 0-for-5 performance you’ll see, as Anthony managed an RBI and was hitting the ball hard on a couple of his outs. To his credit, he also didn’t strikeout at all either.<\/p>\n The Red Sox have one more away series, as they travel to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Twins<\/a> in a three-game series.
