The Boston Red Sox<\/a> lost 13\u20136 to the Minnesota Twins<\/a> Monday night at Target Field. Garrett Crochet<\/a><\/strong> had the blow-up of all blow-ups. He survived 1 2\/3 innings, allowing 11 runs, 10 earned, on nine hits and three walks. Bailey Ober<\/strong><\/a> got the win, going six innings and allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out seven Red Sox hitters.<\/p>\n Luke Keaschall<\/strong><\/a> got it started with an RBI double scoring Austin Martin<\/strong><\/a>. Ryan Jeffers<\/strong><\/a> got an RBI single right after. Victor Caratini<\/strong><\/a> drew a walk and Matt Wallner<\/strong><\/a> got plunked by a pitch both with two outs. Brooks Lee<\/strong><\/a> hit a ball which Trevor Story<\/strong><\/a> dove to get. However, his attempted glove flip scampered out to Willson Contreras<\/strong><\/a> at first base, scoring two runs in the process.<\/p>\n It only got worse in the second inning, as the Twins scored another six runs before Crochet recorded an out. This included a three-run home run from Caratini and a solo shot by Ryan Kreidler<\/a><\/strong> that officially ended his outing.<\/p>\n The Red Sox tried their best to bring some life, with a Caleb Durbin<\/strong><\/a> RBI double followed by a two-run bomb from Jarren Duran<\/strong><\/a> making it 11\u20133 through three innings.<\/p>\n It only got worse as Byron Buxton<\/a> hit his first home run of the year in the fifth, followed Jeffers hitting his second on the year to make it 13\u20133.<\/p>\n Trevor Story hit a single up the middle to drive in Willson Contreras in the sixth inning. Despite having runners on first and second with no outs, one run was all the Red Sox came with.<\/p>\n In The next inning, Andruw Monasterio<\/strong><\/a> got a pinch-hit RBI single, followed by Wilyer Abreu<\/a><\/strong> doing the same three batters later. No other notable offense occured over the next three innings.<\/p>\n Despite having virtually no chance of winning for the last seven innings, the Red Sox still put up some runs. The 1-through-6 hitter in the lineup did their jobs, getting nine of the 10 hits for the Sox in this game.<\/p>\n In the moment, it seemed like the Twins could hear Crochet’s Pitchcom. It made very little sense how the Twins were hitting everything that touched the strike zone. Crochet’s velocity was a couple miles per hour down all across the board.<\/p>\n The second game of the series will take place at 7:40 pm Eastern on Tuesday night.
