The Boston Red Sox<\/a> took another loss to the Minnesota Twins<\/a> to the tune of 6-0 on Tuesday night at Target Field. Mick Abel<\/strong><\/a> pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out 10 Red Sox hitters while giving up four hits and no walks. On the hitting side, Byron Buxton<\/strong><\/a> slugged two home runs for the Twins. Sonny Gray<\/strong><\/a>, meanwhile, went four innings giving up five runs on nine hits.<\/p>\n Luke Keaschall<\/strong><\/a> started the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning to drive in Buxton. For the Red Sox, Sonny Gray<\/strong><\/a> started off much better than Garrett Crochet<\/strong><\/a> did the prior night. He at least made it through two innings, only giving up one run in the process.<\/p>\n However, Buxton added to the scoring, clobbering a solo shot of his own to make it 2\u20130. In the fourth, Brooks Lee<\/strong><\/a> hit a leadoff home run, his third on the year. Three batters later, Trevor Larnach<\/strong><\/a> lined a two-run single down the right field line to make it 5\u20130.<\/p>\n Jack Anderson<\/strong><\/a>, who made his major league debut this game, came in for the fifth, officially ending Gray\u2019s outing. He did very well at minimizing the damage. That was until Buxton drilled his second bomb of the day. Keep in mind, he hadn’t had a home run before this series. This was his third of the series.<\/p>\n The Red Sox\u2019 best opportunity to score runs was in the eighth inning with two runners on. However, they came up fruitless. Aroldis Chapman<\/strong><\/a> came in to pitch in the eighth inning, most likely for reps since he hadn’t pitched in a week.<\/p>\n Roman Anthony<\/strong><\/a> and Masataka Yoshida<\/strong><\/a> combined for four of the team\u2019s six hits on the day.<\/p>\n While it is common sense around the majors that starters going five or more innings is a good thing, the Red Sox don’t have the bullpen necessary to dig them out of that hole.<\/p>\n The offense couldn’t do anything substantial until the eighth inning. The lineup as a whole struck out 11 times on the game, including a golden sombrero from Carlos Narvaez<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Willson Contreras<\/strong><\/a> left this game in the fifth inning due to lower back tightness. Red Sox fans are hoping the injury isn’t too serious, especially considering he’s been their hottest hitter as of late.<\/p>\n Connelly Early<\/strong><\/a> will take the bump for the Red Sox for the last game of the series on Wednesday at 1:40 pm Eastern.
