The Boston Red Sox<\/a> take the final game of the series 9\u20135 over the Minnesota Twins<\/a>. Connelly Early<\/strong><\/a> got the win, pitching six innings and allowing two hits, two walks and one run while striking out five. Simeon Woods Richardson<\/strong><\/a> shouldered the loss, giving up six earned runs on 10 hits and three walks through five innings. The Red Sox rallied the troops despite missing around half of their everyday players. Willson Contreras<\/strong><\/a>, Wilyer Abreu<\/strong><\/a>, Carlos Narvaez<\/strong><\/a> and Caleb Durbin<\/strong><\/a> were all out for the Red Sox\u2019 lineup. They did so with a monstrous day from Trevor Story<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n The Red Sox couldn’t capitalize with two runners on and one out, still going scoreless in the first inning. Austin Martin<\/strong><\/a> made them pay with a solo shot off Early to give them a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n It took until the third inning for any kind of answer back from the Red Sox, and was it quite the answer back. With the bases loaded and no outs, Masataka Yoshida<\/strong><\/a> hit a ground ball to Luke Keaschall<\/strong><\/a> at second base. He wound up bobbling with the ball, before throwing it away, which scored two runs. Story followed it up with a three-run bomb on the first pitch to extend the Red Sox lead to 5\u20131.<\/p>\n The offense continued pouring it on in the fourth, once again getting bases loaded with no outs. Ceddanne Rafaela<\/strong><\/a> lined a ball right to Ryan Kreidler<\/strong><\/a> at third, who stepped on the bag before going home to get two outs on the play. Right after, Yoshida struck out looking to end the inning with no runs scored.<\/p>\n The Red Sox managed to make up for it in the fifth. An RBI double from Andruw Monasterio<\/a><\/strong> plated another run. Two batters later, Connor Wong<\/strong><\/a> placed a sacrifice bunt down to score Monasterio from third to make it 7\u20131.<\/p>\n Anthony Banda<\/strong><\/a> took over to start the sixth inning. It didn’t deter Story, who added to the lead with a two-run double in the sixth.<\/p>\n Despite the Twins getting two runners on in the bottom of the eighth, Keaschall couldn’t come through in the clutch, keeping the score at 9\u20131.<\/p>\n The Twins weren’t just going to sit down and play dead, however. Brooks Lee<\/strong><\/a> hit an RBI single to make it 9\u20132. Right after him, Kreidler launched a three-run home run to get the eventual final score.<\/p>\n For how bad Story’s start to the year has been, he’s still be a quality hitter in terms of driving in runners compared to the rest of the Red Sox lineup. This was his magnum opus, a five-RBI day to lead the way for the Sox offense.<\/p>\n Early bounced back after giving up that first inning home run and pitched excellently over his six innings.<\/p>\n It would’ve been nice to not have any extra stress thrown on this game late. But alas, the Red Sox have had their struggles this season.<\/p>\n The Red Sox go back home as the Detroit Tigers<\/strong><\/a> will come to Fenway Park for a four-game weekend series starting Friday.
