The New York Yankees<\/a> defeated the Boston Red Sox<\/a>, 4\u20131, Wednesday night in Fenway Park. Max Fried<\/strong><\/a> pitched an absolute gem, going eight innings and giving up three hits and two walks while fanning nine Red Sox hitters.<\/p>\n The Yankees struck in the opening frame with a three-run bomb from Amed Rosario<\/strong><\/a>. He also knocked in another run via a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Suarez otherwise got through his work relatively quickly, getting taken out after 71 pitches and 4 2\/3 innings.<\/p>\n Zack Kelly<\/strong><\/a> got through an inning before getting taken out with two outs in the sixth. Eduardo Rivera<\/strong><\/a>, making his major league debut, took over in the sixth inning and finished the game.<\/p>\n Brent Headrick<\/strong><\/a> entered the game in the ninth. Despite an RBI single from Jarren Duran<\/strong><\/a> to prevent the shutout, he still got the job done.<\/p>\n Similar to Payton Tolle<\/strong><\/a>, Rivera rose through the minor-league ranks quickly, not even playing in AAA before receiving his call-up. Rivera performed pretty amazingly given the circumstances, making sure the Red Sox didn’t burn their entire bullpen ahead of the series finale.<\/p>\n After four innings of at least getting one baserunner, they went down 1-2-3 over the next four innings. Fried kept making the lineup look more foolish as the game went on. Everyone outside of Duran, who went 3-for-4, struggled this game. It doesn’t matter if the pitching gives up two runs or 15, the lineup did not produce.<\/p>\n The final game of the series will take place inside Fenway on Thursday at 6:10 p.m. ET.
