Mark Vientos <\/a><\/strong>hit an RBI single in the eighth inning to score the go-ahead run, as the New York Mets<\/a> snap a 12\u2013game losing streak by downing the Minnesota Twins<\/a> 3\u20132. During Wednesday night\u2019s game at Citi Field, Francisco Lindor<\/strong><\/a>, Francisco Alvarez <\/a><\/strong>and Vientos scored the Mets’ only runs. At the same time, Juan Soto <\/a><\/strong>returned from a quad injury that sent him to the injured list. Righty Clay Holmes <\/a><\/strong>lasted seven innings, recording four strikeouts and allowing five hits.<\/p>\n Bo Bichette <\/a><\/strong>was back hitting leadoff, as he sent a double to third in his first at-bat. Lindor lined a shallow RBI single to score his teammate. Trevor Larnach <\/a><\/strong>doubled off Holmes to start the fourth. Victor Caratini <\/a><\/strong>hit a deep sacrifice fly to bring the tying run home.<\/p>\n With the ballgame tied at one, Lindor singled to left field. Alvarez strung together an RBI double, putting the Mets back in front. But that came at the cost of Lindor showing signs of a potential injury. The team later announced that a lower-body injury forced him to exit the game.<\/p>\n The Mets’ lead lasted an inning, as Byron Buxton <\/a><\/strong>sent a solo shot to left off Holmes for his second blast of the series. In the bottom of the inning, Kendry Rojas <\/a><\/strong>walked Vientos, and Marcus Semien <\/a><\/strong>hit a double off the Twins’ left-hander. However, Vientos put an end to the inning by running through the third base coach’s stop sign, resulting in him being tagged out at the plate.<\/p>\n Soto lined a single to right field. But during the next at-bat, he was picked off while trying to swipe second. Brett Baty <\/a><\/strong>and Alvarez walked to base, setting up Vientos\u2019 go-ahead RBI single. Luke Weaver <\/a><\/strong>sealed the deal in the ninth, striking out three Twins to help the Mets snap their 12-game losing streak.<\/p>\n Lindor, Vientos and Alvarez led the Mets with a combined three RBI and four hits. On the rubber, Holmes spun seven innings and struck out three. He gave up five hits and two earned runs, resulting in him finishing with a 2.10 ERA. The duo of Brooks Raley <\/a><\/strong>and Weaver took care of business in the final three innings, keeping damage minimal with four strikeouts.<\/p>\n The Mets managed to snap a historically treacherous 12-game losing streak. But it came at the expense of Lindor, who left the game during the fifth inning due to what is believed to be a calf injury. His injury might be similar to the one that sidelined Juan Soto<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Lindor struggled to start the season, recording only 21 hits with one RBI, going into this series against the Twins. But he began to get back into a mojo, putting together four RBI in his last two appearances. His injury is listed as day-to-day until further notice.<\/p>\n With a lengthy losing streak behind them, the Mets will look to win the series against the Twins in Thursday\u2019s finale, scheduled to start at Citi Field at 7:10 pm Eastern.
