The Boston Red Sox<\/a> thrashed the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> to the tune of 17\u20131 on Saturday afternoon at Camden Yards. After leading 7\u20131 through eight innings, the Red Sox scored 10 in the ninth, with three home runs. Garrett Crochet<\/a><\/strong> took the win pitching six scoreless innings and allowing three hits and two walks while striking out seven.<\/p>\n The scoring started in the second, as the often anemic Red Sox offense got on the board early. Caleb Durbin<\/strong><\/a> would go to the opposite field with an RBI double to give the Red Sox a 1\u20130 lead. After a Connor Wong<\/strong><\/a> walk, Isiah Kiner-Falefa<\/a><\/strong> and Ceddanne Rafaela<\/a><\/strong> converted back-to-back RBI singles to make it 3\u20130. Trevor Rogers<\/strong><\/a> outing would end after a walk from Willson Contreras<\/a><\/strong> directly following the RBI singles, as Tyler Wells<\/strong><\/a> took over to get the final out.<\/p>\n Contreras added to the lead in the fourth with a sacrifice fly to drive Wong in for the second time. The next inning, with the bases loaded and two outs, Wong drove a double off the right field wall to clear the bases and make it 7\u20130.<\/p>\n After Crochet’s six innings, Greg Weissert<\/strong><\/a> came in for the seventh inning. Like clockwork, Weissert immediately sold the shutout aspirations. A single to left, along with an error from Durbin put runners on second and third. Leody Taveras<\/a><\/strong> grounded out to first to drive in the first run of the game for the Orioles.<\/p>\n Danny Coulombe<\/strong><\/a> came in for the eighth inning, and do a whole lot better than his last outing against the New York Yankees<\/a>. He didn’t allow a run in his one inning. Contreras would knock in his second run of the game with an RBI single in the ninth. To add even more insult to injury, Andruw Monasterio<\/strong><\/a> slugged his first home run on the year, a grand slam to make it 12\u20131.<\/p>\n It was at this point that Weston Wilson<\/a><\/strong>, a left fielder, came in to pitch. Durbin, seeing a perfect opportunity, earned his first barrel with a home run to left field. Contreras decided to inflate Wilson’s ERA by hitting a three-run bomb of his own.<\/p>\n Wong went 1-for-3 with the bases clearing double, as well as two walks on the day. Refreshing to see some life out of the catcher position.<\/p>\n It was off of a position player, but at the end of the day it does not matter.<\/p>\n It’s safe to say every time Weissert goes on the mound, he tends to get Red Sox fans heartbeats up. He tried his best on this one.<\/p>\n The final game of the series takes place on Sunday at 1:35 pm Eastern.
