Three members of the New York Mets<\/a> are dealing with injuries, as manager Carlos Mendoza<\/a> <\/strong>disclosed during Tuesday\u2019s pregame press conference at Citi Field.<\/p>\n

Soto, Robert Dealing With Injuries<\/h4>\n

Juan Soto<\/strong><\/a> made his return from a 15-game absence last week. But he has yet to retake his place in left field because of forearm tightness. Soto will be the Mets\u2019 designated hitter, until he fully recovers. On Sunday, he threw from 50\u201360 feet and felt discomfort. The team ordered an MRI and the results came back negative.<\/p>\n

As one Met is dealing with an injury, the same goes for Luis Robert Jr.<\/strong><\/a> The veteran outfielder will not play in Tuesday\u2019s series opener against the Washington Nationals<\/a> because of lower back stiffness. He missed the Mets last game for the same reason. But Mendoza considers the injury to be day-to-day. No further examination is required. The club will see how it\u2019s healing in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Senga Lands on IL<\/h4>\n

The team also placed righty Kodai Senga<\/strong><\/a> on the 15-day injured list due to lumbar spine inflammation. The Japanese product began feeling pain in his lower back and right hip during Sunday\u2019s game. That day he gave up three runs and lasted 2 \u00bd innings. That was his third straight start where he failed to go four innings. He holds an alarming 17.28 ERA. He will not throw for 7\u201310 games and will be reassessed after that point.<\/p>\n

With Senga out of action, Mendoza is giving the open spot to righty,David Peterson<\/strong>,<\/a> who was moved to the bullpen earlier this month. Christian Scott<\/strong><\/a>, meanwhile, will continue in his stint as a member of the Mets\u2019 rotation. Scott began his season in the minor league, but was called up to replace Peterson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe knew when we called him up, it wasn\u2019t going to be one outing but we needed to send him down because of the bullpen situation,\u201d Mendoza said. \u201cNow that we have an IL situation, let\u2019s bring him up here because we told him the other day that you\u2019re going to make a lot of starts for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
