Amidst a five game losing streak, lefty A.J. Minter<\/a> made his return to the New York Mets<\/a> from the 60-day IL during Tuesday\u2019s game against the Cincinnati Reds<\/a>. The move ends a 14-month absence for the 32-year-old, who was taken out of action due to a torn lateral muscle in his back last spring.<\/p>\n

In a corresponding roster move, the team activated Jacob Young<\/a> from the 60-day IL and placed Tyrone Taylor<\/a> on the 15-day IL. The front office also promoted journeyman Eric Wagman<\/a> from Triple-A Syracuse.<\/p>\n

A.J. Minter Returns<\/h2>\n

After spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Atlanta Braves<\/a>, Minter made his way to Queens in the 2025 season. He delivered quality control and accuracy, recording 14 strikeouts on a 1.64 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in 13 appearances. But, his first year with the Mets was cut short by a painful torn lateral muscle sustained during a win over the Washington Nationals<\/a> on April 26.<\/p>\n

He spent the next 14 months rehabbing and working towards making a full recovery. And as the Mets bullpen dealt with inaccuracies, the team activated A.J. Minter. His return came in the ninth inning of their second game against the Reds, in which he earned two strikeouts and allowed a hit. Yet his return was overshadowed by the Mets dropping their fifth straight game.<\/p>\n

In Other News<\/h4>\n

Young made his return to the Mets from a torn left meniscus, which sidelined him for six weeks. He started the season 7-for-20 and went without a hit in his first game back. However, Young does give the Mets a left-handed option at first base next to Mark Vientos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In similar fashion, Wagman went without a hit in two plate appearances. Similar to Young, he gives the Mets another option at first and third. He has also played left field. In 13 games at Triple-A Syracuse, the 28-year-old journeyman batted .372 with two home runs and 12 RBI.<\/p>\n

Wagman can give the lineup more depth, as Taylor went on the 15-day IL due to a right hip flexor strain. He sustained the injury during Monday\u2019s game against the Reds and will be out for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n
