Marcus Semien<\/a><\/strong> began his first season with the New York Mets<\/a> still trying to find his way. The veteran infielder had only six hits and nine RBI in his first two months in Queens. On top of moving from short to second, he struck out 18 times when hitting at the end of the order.<\/p>\n

However, he began to put together more effective and efficient at-bats. He produced 24 hits, four home runs and 13 RBI in May. To close out the month, he hit a two-run home run against the Miami Marlins<\/a>, which gave the Mets a comfortable three run lead. With help from his production, they went on to down the Marlins 10\u20131, as they secured their fourth straight win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m working harder every day. You work hard to make sure you can go out of the game to see and hit the ball in the zone that you’re supposed to hit. That\u2019s always going to be the goal,\u201d Semien said. \u201cThere\u2019s always going to be ups and downs, but the work never stops. That\u2019s what I love about this game, we have eight months to work as hard as we possibly can to get to a hit point where we\u2019re playing in the game and the ball slows down a little.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marcus Semien Has Been Effective<\/h4>\n

After helping his team win their fourth straight game, Semien continued to make the most out of his appearances. Against the Seattle Mariners<\/a> on Monday, his only hit of the game was a solo home run. But, his lone hit and RBI put the Mets ahead. On the other hand, his sixth home run of the season was overshadowed by the Marlins making a comeback to steal the win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to win. I want to score runs. You go up to the plate to score runs. It\u2019s definitely fun to get on base and score some runs and drive the ball,\u201d Semien added. \u201cI think we learned from the series in Miami what works against us. It was time to make some adjustments and that\u2019s what this league is always about.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the Mets\u2019 record slipping down to 26\u201334, Marcus Semien has been getting into a rhythm. He\u2019s slashing .228\/.281\/.349, while showing more composure at the plate. Part of that can be attributed to him making adjustments. He is taking more pitches when necessary and waiting to make contact.<\/p>\n

He said that what worked for his team against the Marlins was by also making similar adjustments to how they approach the matchup. Optionally, they can do that again to rebound from their loss to the Mariners.<\/p>\n
