Major League Baseball named New York Mets<\/a> outfielder Juan Soto<\/strong><\/a> a National League All-Star starter. This marks his fifth appearance, as the only player from the Mets to make it this year. The selection was revealed<\/a> Saturday evening along with the rest of the members of both teams for the 2026 All-Star game on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Juan Soto is All-Star Bound<\/h4>\n

After joining the Mets two years ago, Soto began the year slow for his standards, as a superstar slugger. He, ultimately, missed out on being named to last year\u2019s All-Star team. This came as his teammates Francisco Lindor<\/strong><\/a>, Pete Alonso<\/a><\/strong>, David Peterson<\/strong><\/a>, and Edwin Diaz<\/a> <\/strong>made the cut.<\/p>\n

At the start of this season, it looked as if Juan Soto was going to miss out again. He was sidelined for 15 games in April with a quad injury. But upon making his return, he slowly began performing like his old self. In May, he tallied 27 hits, 10 home runs and 21 RBI. He then ended June with 24 hits, four home runs and 10 RBI on a .298 average. On the season thus far, Soto is slashing .297\/.406\/.565 on a .971 OPS with 73 hits, 18 home runs and 41 RBI.<\/p>\n

Mets Who Missed the Cut<\/h4>\n

As Juan Soto will represent the team, the likes of Bo Bichette<\/strong><\/a> and Lindor missed out on being named to the NL All-Star team. Bichette, a two-time All-Star, began his first year in Queens slowly. Still, he did pick up the pace to hit five home runs and 15 RBI in June. Similarly, Lindor started the season slow and was also sidelined with a quad injury. Since returning, the five-time All-Star tallied five hits, two home runs and four RBI.<\/p>\n

Out of the pitching staff, Luke Weaver<\/a> <\/strong>and Huascar Brazoban<\/strong><\/a> made a case to be named All-Stars. Weaver, a 12-season veteran, tossed 39 strikeouts in 36 innings on a 2.00 ERA. Brazoban, on the other hand, struck out 38 batters in more than 41 innings. He has a 1.94 ERA.<\/p>\n
