The 2026 MLB All-Star Week in Philadelphia delivered a mixed bag for stars and fans alike. The American League cruised to a 4-0<\/a> shutout over the National League at Citizens Bank Park<\/span>, marking the first All-Star Game shutout since 2013<\/span>. While the on-field product tilted one-sided, the weeklong celebration in the City of Brotherly Love gave Phillies fans plenty to remember.<\/span><\/p>\n

American League pitching stole the show<\/span><\/h2>\n

Philadelphia All-Star Week became a pitching clinic. AL starter\u00a0<\/span>Dylan Cease<\/span><\/a>\u00a0struck out the side in the first inning, joining an exclusive club of seven pitchers to fan three in an All-Star opening frame<\/span>. Cease and 10 relievers combined on a three-hitter<\/span>. The NL managed singles from\u00a0<\/span>Juan Soto<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Pete Crow-Armstrong<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Otto Lopez<\/span><\/a>\u2014and never advanced a runner past first<\/span>. AL pitchers racked up 15 strikeouts<\/span>, one shy of the nine-inning All-Star Game record<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The offensive highlight came early.\u00a0<\/span>Cody Bellinger<\/span><\/a>\u00a0lined a two-run single off hometown starter\u00a0<\/span>Cristopher S\u00e1nchez<\/span><\/a>, and\u00a0<\/span>Ben Rice<\/span><\/a>\u00a0followed with an RBI single<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Miguel Vargas<\/span><\/a>\u00a0added a solo homer in the eighth<\/span>, the game’s only extra-base hit<\/span>. Bellinger earned MVP honors<\/span>, joining Yankees legends Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Giancarlo Stanton as All-Star Game MVPs<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Philadelphia’s hometown heroes faced mixed results<\/span><\/h2>\n

Philadelphia All-Star Week featured six Phillies on the NL roster<\/span>. S\u00e1nchez became the first Phillies pitcher to start a Midsummer Classic since Roy Halladay in 2011<\/span>, but the outing turned rocky\u201434 pitches, three hits, two walks, and three runs<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Jes\u00fas Luzardo<\/span><\/a>\u00a0delivered a six-pitch scoreless fourth<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>Jhoan Duran<\/span><\/a>\u00a0recorded the final two outs of the ninth<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Bryce Harper<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Kyle Schwarber<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Brandon Marsh<\/span><\/a>\u00a0went hitless in five at-bats<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monday’s Home Run Derby brought drama. Schwarber reached the final, but\u00a0<\/span>Jordan Walker<\/span><\/a>\u00a0rallied with home runs on his last six swings\u2014four on do-or-die pitches\u2014to win 12-11<\/span>. Walker became the first Cardinals player to win the Derby<\/span>. The sellout crowd of 43,916 booed almost every non-Phillie<\/span>. Walker heard it loudest<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Mike Trout<\/span><\/a>, the 12-time All-Star playing in his first Midsummer Classic since 2019, went 0-for-3<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fans turned Philadelphia into baseball’s epicenter<\/span><\/h2>\n

Philadelphia All-Star Week transformed the city into a baseball carnival. The Capital One All-Star Village at the Pennsylvania Convention Center drew more than 111,000 visitors over four days<\/span>, far exceeding the league’s 80,000 prediction<\/span>. Fans enjoyed batting cages, pitching tunnels, photo ops, and meet-and-greets with over 40 former players<\/span>. The event covered 500,000 square feet\u201495% of the Convention Center’s largest contiguous exhibit space<\/span>. Unique food vendors like Fishtown Pickle Project and Nuchas Empanadas served local flavors<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the players, the week carried deeper meaning. Marsh chatted with\u00a0<\/span>Chris Sale<\/span><\/a> on the bench, who told him: “First All-Star Game in your hometown? It only goes downhill from here.”<\/span>\u00a0Harper watched his son get\u00a0<\/span>Bobby Witt Jr.<\/span><\/a>‘s autograph on a sweet spot<\/span>. Schwarber called seeing his son strike a Spider-Man pose on the red carpet a “proud dad moment.”<\/span> Phillies CEO John Middleton called the experience “extraordinary.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The American League extended its all-time All-Star lead to 49-45-2<\/span>. The scoreboard told one story. The memories, for Phillies players and fans, told another.<\/span><\/p>\n
