The Baltimore Orioles<\/a> defeated the Houston Astros<\/a> 5\u20132 on Sunday afternoon at Daikin Park after taking advantage of aggressive baserunning and timely hitting before holding the Astros’ offense in check over the final six innings.<\/p>\n Hunter Brown<\/a> struck out four across 4 2\/3 innings in a losing effort. Yordan Alvarez<\/a> and Jose Altuve<\/a> each drove in a run, but the Astros left runners in scoring position in three separate innings as the Orioles pulled away to secure the series victory.<\/span><\/p>\n The Astros and Orioles traded strong pitching in the first two innings. Brown retired five of the first six hitters he faced. He struck out Gunnar Henderson<\/a> and Pete Alonso<\/a> in the first inning. Brandon Young<\/a> matched him by retiring the Astros in order. He also escaped a second-inning threat after LaMonte Wade Jr.<\/a> reached third on a Yainer Diaz<\/a> single with nobody out.<\/p>\n The Orioles struck first in the third inning. Jackson Holliday<\/a> walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Henderson brought him home with a single to left. Alonso later drew a walk. Brown escaped multiple jams, including stranding a runner at third in the fourth inning after back-to-back defensive miscues threatened to add another run.<\/span><\/p>\n The top of the lineup accounted for both Astros runs.<\/span><\/p>\n Altuve doubled and later homered in the eighth inning for his 12th home run of the season. Alvarez added an RBI double in the third inning and finished with another extra-base hit as the Astros’ most consistent offensive threat.<\/span><\/p>\n Bryan King<\/a>, Kai-Wei Teng<\/a>, and Cristian Javier combined to hold the Orioles scoreless over the final four innings.<\/span><\/p>\n The Astros had multiple chances to shift the momentum but could not deliver the timely hit.<\/p>\n The Astros stranded LaMonte Wade Jr. at third base in the second inning after Yainer Diaz’s single. Another opportunity slipped away in the eighth when Isaac Paredes reached second with one out following a throwing error, yet the Astros failed to score again.<\/p>\n The Orioles took advantage of every opportunity the Astros allowed.<\/p>\n Walks, a wild pitch, and a hit batter created traffic throughout the afternoon.
