The New York Mets<\/a> placed outfielder Juan Soto<\/strong><\/a> on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain ahead of Saturday\u2019s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>. He was pulled from Friday\u2019s game against the Dodgers in the sixth inning.<\/p>\n

Interim manager Andy Green<\/a><\/strong> disclosed that he would undergo further testing and an MRI. Still, his injury is considered mild, but could sideline him for four-six weeks. This is the second time this season he\u2019s dealt with a quad strain, as he missed 15 games in April the first time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a frustrating set of circumstances. Definitely something will reflect on and see if there\u2019s anything that jumps out at this moment. It feels unlucky to a degree,\u201d Green said.<\/p>\n

Juan Soto Injury<\/h4>\n

The Mets lineup has been plagued by injuries this season. Francisco Lindor<\/strong><\/a> and Marcus Semien<\/strong><\/a> among others have missed portions of the season. As did Juan Soto, who is set to miss time for the second time in 2026.<\/p>\n

This is a major blow to the team, considering Soto provides reliability on a consistent basis. Upon returning from his last injury, he tallied 27 hits, 10 home runs and 21 RBI in May. He performed even better in June, which was enough to earn him his fifth All-Star appearance. He was the Mets sole representative in the mid-summer spectacle.<\/p>\n

For those reasons, the Mets proceeded with caution when it came to Soto\u2019s injury. They benched him during Thursday\u2019s game to ensure he was well rested to play in their ongoing homestead. Yet again, this was not enough to prevent another injury.<\/p>\n

Mets Recall Wagaman<\/h4>\n

With Juan Soto sidelined, the Mets recalled infielder Eric Wagaman<\/strong><\/a> from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old recorded six hits, two home runs and four RBI on a .162 average. He is an above average fielder and provides the team with another righty at the plate. Still, his output is nowhere near the level of Soto\u2019s.<\/p>\n
