Right-hander Freddy Peralta<\/strong><\/a> has continued to struggle during his first season with the New York Mets<\/a>. The former All-Star gave up six hits, three runs and two earned runs in Sunday\u2019s win over the Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>. Still, his future with the franchise is uncertain as he admitted that was \u201cprobably\u201d his last appearance ahead of the August 3 trade deadline.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it probably is. I have to focus and keep giving the best of myself. If it happens, it happens. I\u2019m thankful and grateful to be part of this organization. I know so far I\u2019ve let them down. I haven\u2019t done what I was supposed to do, but I\u2019m grateful to be here,\u201d Peralta said.<\/p>\n

However, the Mets\u2019 front office have yet to have a formal conversation with Peralta about whether or not they will trade him before the deadline. He is on an expiring contract, making it a possibility. In that instance, the club could receive draft capital or prospects for the righty, who will look to start fresh with another team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand how it works, but I can\u2019t control that. I have to wait and come back tomorrow and the next few days and do my best and keep working hard to keep myself healthy,\u201d Peralta added.<\/p>\n

Freddy Peralta Falls Short<\/h4>\n

Struggling and falling behind in counts has become a reoccurring issue for Peralta. Against the Dodgers, he gave up a double and a walk to begin the first. He posted a hitless second inning. But in the third, he surrendered another double and then an RBI double. Another run scored, as the Dodgers scored for a third time by the end of the fourth.<\/p>\n

The Mets minimized damage and scored seven runs in response to take the series finale. However, this was far from an ideal for Freddy Peralta, who is 5\u20139 with a 4.99 ERA. His numbers are much higher in comparison to last season when he was 17\u20136 and had a 2.70 ERA.<\/p>\n

Simply, Freddy Peralta hasn\u2019t performed at the same level as the Mets anticipated him to live up to. He lost four straight games in April, giving up 18 hits and six earned runs. He had a 4\u20131 record in May, before losing another three appearances in June. In two of those outings, he gave up a combined 16 hits, 16 earned runs and three home runs. Before playing the Dodgers, he gave up eight hits and seven earned runs against his former team, the Milwaukee Brewers<\/a>.<\/p>\n
