The Texas Rangers<\/a> acquired right-hander Chase Silseth<\/a><\/strong> and catcher Logan O\u2019Hoppe<\/strong><\/a> from the Los Angeles Angels<\/a>. Going to the Angels will be minor-league infielder Angel Arredondo<\/a><\/strong>. News of the development was first reported by Jeff Passan<\/a> of ESPN Wednesday evening. The deal comes less than a week before Major League Baseball trade deadline on August 3.<\/p>\n

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Rangers are sending catcher Danny Jansen<\/a><\/strong> and righty Jose Corniell<\/a><\/strong> to the 60-day Injured List.\u00a0 The Rangers optioned Logan O\u2019Hoppe to Triple-A Round Rock, and Chase Silseth will be added to the Rangers active roster when he reports, per Evan Grant<\/a> of The Dallas Morning News<\/em>.<\/p>\n

What Silseth Brings to Arlington<\/h4>\n

The 26-year-old Silseth owns a 3\u20132 record with a 2.72 ERA over 47 relief appearances with the Angels this season. He posted a 1.412 WHIP and 10.9 strikeouts per 9 innings. He has held opposing batters to a .230\/.329\/.331\/.660 slash line with 22 walks against 48 strikeouts, permitting three home runs all year (0.68 HR\/9).<\/p>\n

Over his last seven appearances since July 9, Silseth has not allowed an earned run over 6 2\/3 innings.\u00a0 He has produced a whiff percentage of 32.7%, ranking in the majors’s 93rd percentile according to Baseball Savant.\u00a0 Silseth has also generated an average exit velocity of 86.6 mph, ranking in the 88th percentile in MLB, along with a 32.0% hard-hit rate (87th percentile).<\/p>\n

Catching Depth<\/h4>\n

Logan O’Hoppe has served as the Angels’ primary backstop in 2026, making 68 starts behind the plate while batting .209 (49-for-234) with four home runs, eight doubles, and 23 RBI.\u00a0 Entering Wednesday, his 52 successful ABS challenges were the fourth-most among AL catchers.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

A right-handed batter and thrower, O’Hoppe carries a .273 (18-for-66) batting average against left-handers this season, the third-highest such mark among AL catchers.\u00a0 In 25 career games against the Rangers, the 26-year-old owns a .261\/.320\/.457\/.778 (24-92) slash line with five home runs, three doubles, and 10 RBI, including one of his four career multi-home run games on July 9, 2024 at Angel Stadium.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n
