ARLINGTON, Texas (Sep 18) \u2014 As a team, the Texas Rangers<\/a> walked a total of 10 times en route to a 7\u20131 victory over the error-prone Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> Friday. One of their highlights of the night was an RBI double by Corey Seager<\/a><\/strong> in the second inning. With this win, the Rangers are once again tied for first place in the AL West, alongside the Houston Astros<\/a>, 6\u20132 losers to the Atlanta Braves<\/a>, Friday night. Incidentally, the Braves clinched the NL East with said win. The Rangers, meanwhile, will aim for their second consecutive series win Saturday evening with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 pm Central at Globe Life Field. Right-handers Jose Soriano<\/a><\/strong> (12\u20137, 3.56 ERA) and Cal Quantrill<\/a><\/strong> (9\u20135, 2.90 ERA) will go toe-to-toe in that matchup.<\/p>\n The Rangers put together a four-run second inning with right-hander Dylan Cease<\/a> <\/strong>pitching. Wyatt Langford<\/a><\/strong> led off with a walk after an unsuccessful ABS challenge by catcher Alejandro Kirk<\/a><\/strong>. With Jake Burger<\/a><\/strong> at the plate, Langford swiped second for his 14th stolen base of the season. Burger drew a free pass moments later. Nicky Lopez<\/a><\/strong> advanced both runners with a single to right.<\/p>\n After Elias Diaz<\/a><\/strong> flied to shallow center, Evan Carter<\/a><\/strong> reached second on a fielder’s choice and a throwing error by shortstop Ernie Clement<\/a><\/strong>. Lopez and Carter moved up a base and Langford scored on the play. Up next was Ezequiel Duran<\/a><\/strong>, who plated Lopez with a sacrifice fly to right. Carter scored thanks to a double to right by Seager.<\/p>\n The Blue Jays pushed one across in the top of the fifth against righty Kumar Rocker<\/a><\/strong>. Rocker walked Kazuma Okamoto<\/a><\/strong> and former teammate Josh Smith<\/a><\/strong> to begin the stanza. Okamoto was tagged out at third on a force play grounded into by Clement. A double to left by Myles Straw<\/a><\/strong> brought Smith home.<\/p>\n The Rangers scored again in the bottom of the fifth off reliever Braydon Fisher<\/a><\/strong>. Brandon Nimmo<\/a><\/strong> drew a leadoff walk and reached third on a single to left by Langford. Up next was Burger, who drove in Nimmo with a sacrifice fly to left.<\/p>\n The lead stretched to 6\u20131 in the bottom of the sixth off reliever Brendon Little<\/a><\/strong>. Duran reached on a throwing error by Okamoto at third. After Seager struck out swinging, Josh Jung<\/a><\/strong> singled up the middle on a ground ball that was deflected by Clement at short. Duran advanced to third on the play. Nimmo and Langford drew back-to-back walks, allowing Duran to score.<\/p>\n The Rangers scored one more in the bottom of the eighth off reliever Joe Mantiply<\/strong><\/a>. With two outs, Okamoto committed his second throwing error of the game from third, enabling Langford to reach second. Burger stepped in and brought home the former with a sharp double to right.<\/p>\n The Rangers had plenty of traffic on the base paths Friday. As previously mentioned they had 10 walks from the lineup and seven runs came from it. They also had several RBI hits, the most notable knock coming from Seager in the second that plated Carter. Additionally, they capitalized on the three Blue Jays errors in the game, scoring four unearned runs.<\/p>\n The only thing that didn’t favor the Rangers was the RBI double by Straw in the fifth inning.<\/p>\n Rangers starter Kumar Rocker pitched into the fifth and allowed one run for the second straight start. His final line was 4 1\/3 IP, 3 H, 1 R-ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 76 pitches\/48 strikes. Rocker was scoreless through four frames, delivering 1-2-3 innings in the first, third, and fourth while navigating around a pair of one-out singles in the second. Each of the first four batters reached against him in the fifth before he was removed.<\/p>\n The Rangers’ relief corps did a nice job keeping the Blue Jays in check. Tyler Alexander<\/a><\/strong> relieved Rocker in the top of the fifth. He recorded two outs, one of which was on strikes. Righty Trevor Williams<\/a><\/strong> ate up four innings for the Rangers, striking out four to earn his second win of the year. His record now sits at 2\u20130 with a 2.73 ERA.<\/p>\n Blue Jays starter Dylan Cease took the loss after pitching 2 2\/3 innings. His line was 3 H, 4 R-1 ER, 6 BB and 3 K. Friday marked his shortest outing of the year. His previous shortest was 4 1\/3 innings on April 3 at the Chicago White Sox<\/a>. Cease set a season-high in walks, posting a 23.5% first pitch strike percentage, less than half of his 62.7% season average going into Friday. He escaped a jam in the first by inducing a double play grounded into by Nimmo but coughed up four runs in the second on two walks, two hits, and the throwing error on a fielder\u2019s choice by Clement. Cease allowed four runs in an inning for the first time this season, though three were unearned.<\/p>\n He loaded the bases with no outs in the third but struck out two before being replaced by Cellucci who got out of the inning without further damage.<\/p>\n After the game, Rangers manager Skip Schumaker<\/strong><\/a> discussed the performance of Alexander and Williams in this game. “I had five guys down in the bullpen,” he said. “So, we were pretty limited. Alexander obviously had a big outing. We were going to match up the best we could the remainder of the way, and our offense really picked us up.
