The New York Mets<\/a> placed first baseman Jared Young<\/a><\/strong> on the 7-day Concussion Injured List before the start of Friday\u2019s game against the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> at Citi Field. The team announced that Young is sidelined for the remainder of the regular season after he was involved in an inverted collision with right-hander Nolan McLean<\/a><\/strong> in the sixth inning of Thursday\u2019s 3\u20130 loss to the Phillies. McLean, however, was not injured and finished the inning. In a corresponding move, the Mets recalled infielder Ronny Mauricio<\/strong><\/a> from Triple-A Syracuse.<\/p>\n

Jared Young Injury Update<\/h4>\n

Young sustained the injury when his face collided into the knee of McLean as both players attempted to field a ground ball in the sixth inning. Young went down and was unconscious for a moment as the Mets training staff immediately attend to him. Moments later, he was taken off the field on a stretcher and to a local hospital for further examination.<\/p>\n

Interim manager Andy Green<\/strong><\/a> disclosed that Jared Young was discharged from the hospital and is doing \u201cas good as expected or could be hoped for.\u201d Young\u2019s tests went well and he has full movement in his arms and legs, Green added. Green noted that Young is dealing \u201cwith some short term memory loss from how hard he got it.\u201d He is also dealing with a \u201cpretty bad headache.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[He has] full motion of his [arms] and legs. It is a concussion. I don\u2019t know how to categorize the severity of the concussion,\u201d Green said. \u201cThe CT scans are the results that we wanted and what the doctors were hoping for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIm relieved, I think everybody is. All in all as good as we could have hoped for,\u201d Green added.<\/p>\n

Mauricio Recalled<\/h4>\n

With Jared Young sidelined for the remainder of 2026, the Mets recalled Mauricio to fill the gap. The 22-year-old infielder made four appearances in the majors this season, totaling nine hits, two RBI and a home run. Before being recalled, he had 74 hits, 57 RBI, 12 doubles and 18 home runs on a .261 average at Triple-A Syracuse.<\/p>\n
