ARLINGTON, Tex. (Apr 1) \u2014 The Texas Rangers<\/a> routed the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a> in the middle game of their three-game opening set on Saturday by a final score of 16\u20133. A two-homer day by catcher Mitch Garver<\/a><\/strong> helped seal the Rangers’ second consecutive win to open the 2023 season, and it appears that this ball club is having a lot of fun right now. The Rangers <\/span>are 2\u20130 to begin a season for the first time since 2011, and they have now won ten straight games against the Phillies. <\/span>The third and final game of this Opening Weekend series is on Sunday evening at 6:05 pm Central. Lefty Bailey Falter<\/strong><\/a> (0\u20130, -,–) will get the start for the Phillies, and the Rangers will counter with fellow lefty Martin Perez<\/a><\/strong> (o\u20130, -,–).<\/p>\n The Rangers were already on the board before the second pitch had been thrown in the bottom of the first inning. Marcus Semien<\/strong><\/a> stepped up to the plate and deposited the first pitch that he saw into the seats in right-center field. The Rangers scored their second run later in the inning on a single by Robbie Grossman<\/strong><\/a> that drove in first baseman Nathaniel Lowe<\/strong><\/a>. Grossman was responsible for the Rangers’ third run as well. For the second time in the afternoon, it was Lowe that Grossman drove in.
