The Cleveland Guardians<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 plentiful farm system is gearing up for the 2023 minor-league season. One team has already opened the season. Three others will throw out the first pitch this week.<\/p>\n

The Columbus Clippers <\/strong><\/a>opened on the road this past weekend, dropping a three-game series including a pair of-one-run contests to the Iowa Cubs<\/a>. Lefty Konnor Pilkington<\/a><\/strong> was absolutely torched in the first game on Friday night, giving up 10 runs on 11 hits over 3 1\/3 innings. Bo Naylor<\/a><\/strong> homered for Columbus. Tyler Freeman<\/a>, David Fry<\/a><\/strong> and Naylor all had two hits for the Clippers.<\/p>\n

Saturday night in a 4-3 loss in 10 innings, Freeman, Micah Pries<\/a><\/strong> and Zack Collins<\/a><\/strong> all had two hits.<\/p>\n

Freeman, Collins, Naylor and Richie Palacios<\/a><\/strong> all went deep Sunday, but the pitching went haywire again in a wild 12-11 loss. Staked to a 5-0 lead, Adam Scott<\/a><\/strong> gave up six runs in 1 2\/3 innings. Only reliever Michael Kelly<\/a><\/strong> looked good, working two scoreless innings.<\/p>\n

The Clippers open a six-game homestand with the Charlotte Knights<\/a> on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
