PHOENIX, July 6 \u2014 Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> rookie sensation Corbin Carroll<\/a><\/strong>, for the second time in seven days, has left a game with a right shoulder injury. He will have imaging done Friday morning.<\/p>\n Carroll left the seventh inning of the Diamondbacks\u2019 9\u20130 loss to the New York Mets<\/a> Thursday night holding his right upper arm. Manager Torey Lovullo<\/a><\/strong> said Carroll had \u201cright shoulder discomfort\u201d but added that the news was \u201cmore positive\u201d than he or anyone else watching expected. \u201cThe stability of the shoulder checked out,\u201d Lovullo said. He later added that the strength was \u201cfine\u201d and that no symptoms could be recreated. \u201cThat to me was very positive, based on what I saw,\u201d Lovullo said.<\/p>\n Carroll also left the game Thursday, June 29 against the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> with right shoulder discomfort. He sat out the next two games, both against the Los Angeles Angels<\/a>. Carroll returned to action Sunday, July 2 against the Angels as a ninth-inning pinch-hitter. He also started all three games against the Mets.<\/p>\n Carroll had to miss almost the entire 2021 season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum and posterior capsule in his right shoulder. The team had a scare when he reinjured it in the Rays series. However, they felt comfortable with him returning to play after sitting him out for three days. With the most recent recurrence, the team will get imaging before determining a course of action. Lovullo said he does not yet know how long Carroll will sit out this time around or whether he\u2019ll even go on the injured list. \u201cWe\u2019ll get a clearer picture tomorrow as to what the schedule will be moving forward,\u201d Lovullo added. \u201cBut I understand. It\u2019s the second time in seven days \u2014 it\u2019s a red flag. And we\u2019re going to try and get to the bottom of it.\u201d<\/p>\n Carroll was elected by the fans<\/a> to start Tuesday\u2019s All-Star Game<\/a>. Since it is in Seattle \u2014 Carroll\u2019s hometown \u2014 it will be especially disappointing if Carroll is indeed too injured to participate. Given how everything looked and sounded, that seems likely.<\/p>\n The Diamondbacks (50\u201338), meanwhile, close out the first half with a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a> (40\u201347). Both teams have struggled recently. The Diamondbacks have lost four straight and six of their last eight, while the Pirates have lost five of their last six. In addition, the Diamondbacks were both shut out and swept Thursday night for the first time all season.
