While not as franchise changing as the most famous trade between the teams that sent the legendary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/ruthba01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=sportrelay.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-12-05_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Babe Ruth<\/strong><\/a> from the Red Sox to the Yankees, Verdugo gives the Yankees a very good bat.<\/p>\n<h4>Verdugo Traded for Betts, Previously<\/h4>\n<p>The 27-year-old outfielder previously joined the Red Sox in the trade that sent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bettsmo01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=sportrelay.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-12-05_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Mookie Betts<\/strong><\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportrelay.com\/mlb\/category\/dodgers\/\">Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> in 2020. He made his Major League debut for the Dodgers in 2017. Alex Verdugo has struggled to stay healthy so far in his career. He&#8217;s coming off a season where he hit .264 with 13 home runs while driving in 54 in 140 games. In his career, he has hit .281 with 57 home runs and he has driven in 255. He has also represented Mexico twice in the World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n<h4>Pitching help for the Sox<\/h4>\n<p>Greg Weissert made his major league debut in 2022 for the Pinstripes in a memorable fashion. He hit the first batter he faced with the first pitch. The committed a balk. His second pitch in the major leagues then hit the batter as well. After that, he walked two batters and was removed without recording an out.\u00a0 He has gone on to have 3\u20130 record with an ERA of 4.60 so far in his career. Richard Fitts is a minor league pitcher who has yet to pitch at the big league level. He is the reigning Eastern League Pitcher of the Year.
