The Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a> have re-signed club legend, Andrew McCutchen<\/strong><\/a> to a one-year deal worth $5 million. The 37-year-old outfielder is coming off an injury-filled year that ended in September with a partially torn Achilles. He has since been able to resume his offseason routine.<\/p>\n

Gold & Black Legend<\/h4>\n

McCutchen was taken as the 11th overall pick in the 2005 draft by the Pirates. He made his major league debut in 2009 and instantly became a fan favorite in Pittsburgh. He finished the 2009 season with a .286 Average, 12 home runs and 22 stolen bases in 108 games. Andrew McCutchen made his first All-Star appearance in 2011 representing the Bucs. He signed a 6 year $51.5 million contract extension after the 2011 season. In 2013, he won the National League MVP Award becoming the first Pirate to win it since Barry Bonds<\/strong><\/a> in 1992. On the season, he hit .317 with 21 home runs, 84 RBI, and 27 stolen bases. He followed up his MVP season with a strong 2014 season in which he hit .314 and had 25 home runs and 83 RBI.<\/p>\n

Off to the Bay Area<\/h4>\n

McCutchen was traded to the San Francisco Giants<\/a> for Kyle Crick<\/strong><\/a>, Bryan Reynolds<\/strong>,<\/a> and cash considerations in 2018. He hit .255 with 15 home runs for the Giants. He finished the season as a member of the New York Yankees<\/a> after a midseason trade.<\/p>\n

Back to the Keystone State<\/h4>\n

After the season, McCutchen signed a 3-year, $50 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>. He tore his ACL in June of 2019 and missed the rest of the season. In 2021, he hit .222 with 21 home runs for the Fightin’ Phils. Then after a slow season in which he played for the Milwaukee Brewers<\/a>, McCutchen returned home to PNC Park in 2023,\u00a0 where he recorded his 2,000th career hit on his way to hitting .256 with 12 home runs in an injury-shortened season.\u00a0 Andrew McCutchen stated that he hopes to someday retire as a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates.<\/p>\n
