The Texas Rangers<\/a> have agreed to terms on a new contract with Adolis Garcia, a source tells MLB.com\u2019s Mark Feinsand<\/a>. The new agreement, which is pending a physical, is for two years and is worth $14 million with potential for bonuses based on performance. The club has not confirmed the deal. The two sides were scheduled for an arbitration hearing Thursday. However, they got this deal finalized moments before it was set to get under way. This agreement means Garc\u00eda won\u2019t be arbitration-eligible until 2026, his final year of team control.<\/p>\n

Career Year<\/h4>\n

The 30-year-old outfielder is coming off the most successful season of his career. Adolis Garcia posted career-highs in home runs (39), OPS (.836) and barrel rate (16.1%). He then raised his game in the postseason. He homered in four consecutive games during the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros<\/a>. Garcia ended up taking home ALCS MVP honors<\/a> for his record-setting performance.<\/p>\n

He had a setback when he strained his oblique in Game 4 of the World Series. That brought a premature end to Garc\u00eda\u2019s season, but the Rangers wouldn\u2019t have captured their first world championship without his clutch contributions. Adolis Garc\u00eda earned his second All-Star selection during the season. He also received his first Gold Glove<\/a>\u00a0afterward thanks to his strong and\u00a0valuable arm in the outfield<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Garcia was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> in exchange for cash considerations prior to the 2020 season. He has a .245\/.305\/.472 slash line over the past three seasons. That includes 97 homers, 298 RBI, and 50 steals. With this deal in place, the Rangers hang on to one of their most formidable offensive weapons. Garcia is affectionally known as El Bombi (light bulb in Spanish) among his teammates and fans. That sums him up nicely as he has provided a huge spark since putting on a Rangers uniform.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
