The Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Zach Eflin are in agreement on a one-year deal. The contract is worth $10 million and includes a mutual option for 2027. Eflin rejoins the Orioles after his first full season with the team. Eflin was traded to the Orioles from the Tampa Bay Rays at the 2024 trade deadline and has been with the come ever since despite battling injury issues in 2025.

Return to Camden Yards

Zach Eflin, 31, returns to the Orioles in free agency after a 2025 season where he looked anything but himself. However, this signing has the possibility to have high rewards. Eflin in his first nine starts with the Orioles in 2024 accumulated a 2.60 ERA and 1.9 WAR, which would have been his 4th best WAR of his career. He did so in only nine starts. While Eflin did struggle in 2025, injuries are certainly to blame for his dip in quality. With over a thousand career innings of work since his debut in 2016, Eflin brings back a strong veteran presence to an Orioles team looking to make noise in 2026. Between 2023-24 Eflin amassed 26 wins, struck out 320 batters, and an ERA of 3.54.

The 6’6″ righty adds another important check mark to the grocery list of this offseason as he can work as a starter or as a multi-inning reliever depending on what other moves the team makes to conclude the offseason. Re-signing Eflin, the 2023 American League wins leader, is by no means a flashy signing but is exactly the kind of move a contending team should make.

Playoff Experience

Zach Eflin helped the Orioles finish with a record of 91–71 and secure an American League Wild Card berth in 2024. Then he tossed four innings of one-run ball in Baltimore’s season-ending loss against the Kansas City Royals in Game Two of the AL Wild Card Series.
