San Diego Padres
Major League Baseball today announced its master 2025 regular season schedule ahead of the end of the All-Star break, featuring several changes to interleague play and another international series to kick off the season. Here’s what fans of the San Diego Padres have to look forward to!
Opening Day
The Padres will play an at-home four-game Opening Series against the Atlanta Braves beginning on the earliest Opening Day in MLB history, March 27. This is the eighth time since 1970 the Padres will play the Braves on opening day, the most recent was in 2022.
Interleague Play
Alongside opening day, MLB shifted the number of interleague matchups from four to six to make it a pair of three-game series rather than two. American League opponents for the Padres include the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, and the Baltimore Orioles.
The Padres host their permanent rivals, the Mariners, on “Rivalry Weekend” from May 16-18. Two additional weekend series on July 4-6 and August 8-10 will feature the Rangers and Red Sox respectively. The Orioles arrive in San Diego from Labor Day (Sept 1) to Sept 3.
In the case of the Red Sox, this will mark their fourth regular-season appearance at Petco Park and fifth overall in San Diego. Other American League clubs paying a visit to sunny San Diego include the Clevland Guardians (March 31-April 2), Tampa Bay Rays (April 25–27), Los Angeles Angels (May 12–14), and Kansas City Royals (June 20–22).
Road Games
Several road contests will be held throughout the 2025 regular season, including a historic third visit to Yankee Stadium in May, concluding with a visit to Denver to play the Colorado Rockies. Another Stretch in August will see the Padres face two of their older brother divisional rivals, the San Fransisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Padres end their 2025 regular season schedule with a week of at-home games against the Milwaukee Brewers and finally the Arizona Diamondbacks.
