Dylan Floro won’t have to go far after being traded from the Washington Nationals to the Arizona Diamondbacks while the Nats were in Arizona for a three-game series. Floro will have to walk to the other clubhouse at Chase Field. In return, the Dbacks are sending minor league third baseman Andres Chaparro to Washington DC. According to John Gambadoro, Miguel Castro is the favorite to lose his roster spot in Arizona to make room for Floro.

Dylan Floro Heads West to Join Diamondbacks

Floro returns to the NL West where he had success as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2018-2020. He then spent three years with the Miami Marlins and an injury-plagued year with the Minnesota Twins. He recovered this season for the Nats with an era 2.06 and a career-best 1.051 WHIP in 51 appearances.  Over his nine-year career, Floro has pitched to a 3.24 ERA with a 1.28 ERA in 381 appearances for the Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, Twins, Cincinnati Reds, and Nationals. His best season came for the Marlins in 2021 when he had a 2.81 ERA and 1.22 Whip. The Diamondbacks hope that he can help stabilize their bullpen which has seen a lot of action with injuries to their starting rotation and ineffectiveness from the young arms.

Chaparro heads to DC

The Nationals get mid-level minor leaguer Andres Chaparro in return. The 25-year-old Venezuelan has been tearing up the Pacific Coast League at Triple-A Reno. He is currently hitting .332 with 19 home runs for the Aces. In the minors, he has a career average of .265 and 96 home runs in eight seasons. Chaparro became expendable with the recent resurgence of third baseman Eugenio Suarez.

The Diamondbacks are fighting for a wild-card spot as they hope to return to the playoffs. The Nationals continue their rebuild.
