The 2025 NL Silver Slugger Finalists were announced on Wednesday by Major League Baseball, and three members of the New York Mets are on the list. Outfielder Juan Soto, shortstop Francisco Lindor and infielder Pete Alonso are finalists for the award, which is given annually to the top hitter at each position. Each player put up a dominant season, as the Mets fell a game short of making the playoffs.
Soto Can Win Sixth Career Silver Slugger
Soto signed with the Mets in the offseason last year on a massive 15-year, $765 million contract. After receiving the gigantic payday, the outfielder didn’t disappoint. In 160 games, he hit 43 home runs, 105 RBI and 20 doubles.
Soto ended this season with a .263 average and .921 OPS on top of stealing 38, to become the first Met in franchise history to record more than 30 stolen bases and 40 home runs. If he receives the award, this will be the sixth consecutive season he has been awarded the Silver Slugger award. Soto is in the running against outfielders Corbin Carroll, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Kyle Stowers, Kyle Tucker and James Wood. Three outfielders will receive the award.
Alonso, Lindor Are in The Running
Despite never winning the award, Alonso was named an NL Silver Slugger finalist. In 624 at-bats, the first baseman hit 38 home runs, 126 RBI and 41 doubles with a .272 average. He also has a .871 OPS and 3.4 WAR. The only other time Alonso was named an NL Silver Slugger finalist was in 2022, where he came up short to Paul Goldschmidt. He is in the running against Matt Olson and Freddie Freeman this year.
Meanwhile, Lindor is also an NL Silver Slugger finalist after hitting 31 home runs, 86 RBI and 35 doubles with 65 steals. Like Soto, he joined the exclusive 30/30 club due to hitting more than 30 home runs and stealing over 30 bases. The shortstop ended the year with a .267 average and a .811 OPS.
Before joining the Mets in 2021, Lindor won the award with the Cleveland Guardians in 2016 and 2017. He then took home the honor twice in 2023 and 2024 with the Mets. Lindor’s competition this year is Geraldo Perdomo and Trea Turner.
The NL and AL Silver Slugger award winners will be announced on November 6 at 6 pm Eastern.
